McCall's 7247 Trendy Knit Blouse,Skirt & Vest 1980 - something just caught my eye with this wardrobe. It is so "together" - maybe I just like the color combo with the peachy top and spotted black accented skirt. If you look up the word "versatile" in the dictionary there is a picture of this pattern - just kidding!

It is by Designer Evelyn De Jonge who has a very smoooooth style about her.

Sorry I missed yesterday - by the time I got my head above water it was too late in the day to bother. I have some really old kids patterns listing tomorrow and Friday if you collect those.

We are leaving Friday afternoon and coming back Sunday (no sale sorry but the following week starting the 15th or 16th another 15% off sale - we are going camping!). It's my brother-in-law's 50th birthday and my sister is throwing the "mother of all parties" - we are bringing the tequila for the margarita machine she rented. Probably 100 people. Luckily for me as I am a huge wimp - after a few margaritas I can retire to "our" bedroom and recuperate.

A very rare pattern - one of the Prominent Designer Mail Order patterns.

Finally a cooler weekend - in the mid 80's. We took our bicycles to the West Wetlands Park and rode the bike trails for about 3 hours. Just a beautiful ride on a beautiful day. On the way home we stopped and got new bicycle seats that fit our butts - I mean those bicycle seats that come with bikes do not fit anyones behind! They are more like "thong" seats.

This pattern shouts: Oh look at me! Mail Order 4970 Heartbreaking Beautiful Wrap Dress 1970's - not only a striking wrap dress but that heart shaped pocket rules. I could just run on at the mouth describing how much I love this dress!

Found a number of these unique mail order patterns and will post some more next week so keep checking. Why are mail order patterns often more unique and uncut than the usual maker patterns? hmmmmm

I found this one in a stack of newer patterns last weekend and about fainted. The envelope is quite tatty but the pattern itself is uncut. McCall's 9243 Breathtaking Strapless Evening Dress & Coat 1952 and the detailing on the upper bodice and lower skirt is fantabulous. The coat has that same puffy detailing at the end of the sleeves. This dress is best worn in the spotlights of a movie premiere.

Marian Martin 9085 Retro Diva Dress with Attached Capelet 1960's just the dress to swing your hips! The capelet buttons on to the dress - which makes my head spin thinking about what kind of vintage buttons to use. This dress makes me think of a sexy Clara Barton. Hah!

What a "together" outfit this is! Advance 3073 High Society Retro Dress & Jacket 1960's - very "Mad Men" styling. My sister says the show is fabulous but I haven't seen anything but the commercials and love the fashions! Very successful long weekend sale and I thank you all very much. I'm happily pulling more patterns out since I now have room to stuff them.

Here's a fun one - Simplicity 9126 Nuclear Set of Hippie Vests 1970 with a hoodie version that is super. A bit medieval mod looking. I put in a couple of rather nice 1980's Halter Dress / Jumpsuit Patterns that are worth checking out too.

We went on that nice (?) ride yesterday and my enthusiasm got the better of us. It was a bit too warm but we were determined to have a good time LOL. By the time we got home we were fried (not sunburn just heat) - sigh - maybe in a few weeks!

Simplicity 2849 Remarkable Suspender Skirt, Blouse & Bolero 1930's - I had this same pattern a while back and it didn't last long as you can imagine. How odd to find this same one in another stack I recently picked up. But I'm happy because it is so cute! So few of these oldies left.

My husband and I are heading out this morning for a day ride in our Prowler. It's supposed to be a bit cooler (101) today and we have missed our rides. Just before the heat we were in the hills near Senator Wash and we saw wild donkeys and even a herd of deer!

McCall 7301 Irresistible Sports Dress & Bolero 1948 - I mean who would play sports in that dress? That's a strutting around in the sun saying "Look at Me" dress. No one wants to sweat in that outfit. I have this in a Size 14 Bust 32. While researching I found one other and snatched it up. So by next week I'll have another of the same size listed so no fighting over it LOL.

Found about 20 or 30 brand new Vogue patterns yesterday (from the 1990's) and an absolutely yummy early 1950 evening gown and coat. It's strapless and the ultimate movie premiere outfit. I need to research it and make sure it's complete (It appears uncut in factory folds) and look for it next week.

Here's a secret for you readers (if I am repeating myself from an earlier blog better letting you know twice than not at all!). I try to list the evening before and then put the link in late evening or when I get up in the morning. Here is how I do the code link: The first three letters of the month - the day - the year. I don't use any zeroes as in 03 09 etc. So today is sep239 tomorrow sep249 etc. So if you want a sneak peak make a note. Sometimes I run late and do it the morning of the listing but I sure try to get ahead!

Simplicity 3262 Amazing Dress with Detachable Collar & Cuffs / ca. 1950 with the blue dress on the left having a sheer "overdress", the red dress has little ties on shoulders and there is some spiffy stitching to make them both have a fitted bodice. Super rare I couldn't find another anywhere on the internet. And that huge collar is detachable. Uber fashionista!

I'll be taking the weekend off as usual - some patterns listing tomorrow but most are 70's to 90's as I've sold quite a few newer ones laterly so I need to restock. When I started my site it was surprising to me how fast the newish patterns sold. But taking into consideration how super expensive new ones are it's not really a shocker. People are getting more savvy too with the economy sucking so bad. I would encourage all of you to check out your thrift stores for fabric. I always see so much but it's beyond my storage to get any to think about selling. Blows me away what people get rid of. Goodwill and Salvation Army often have a ton of fabric and if any of you have a Savers near you they are good too.

My apologies for not posting this week! A very hectic weekend in Phoenix and right before we left while we were packing up the car my husband said "Watch out for that brick" - and since it was dark I remember thinking "What brick?" before I exploded my big toe on my right foot (the trouble with flip flops). Took my breath away and I couldn't even scream - hopped like mad into the house, collapsed on the kitchen floor bleeding away and clutching my foot. So I spent the rest of the weekend hobbling with a huge bandage on my foot.

But since I don't type with my feet it's not really an excuse just a bid for some sympathy LOL.

Advance 9004 Fashion Diva Bubble or Full Skirted Party Dress / ca. 1959 - what more can I say? Full skirted version is simply nice but that bubble skirt rocks. Gotta be the right body shape for that one - It is so very vogue looking and I can see it at a Paris fashion show with the rich and famous.

Another newer but scarce pattern today even though I have a number of oldies listed this really caught my eye. Being a casual dresser in Yuma where it's so hot alot of the year this really looks cool. Simplicity 8682 Low Waisted Sailor Collar Dress 1988 and summer is not quite over yet!

Love those patterns with Sailor Collars!

The last few nights my husband and I have gone outside and watched the Space Station and the Shuttle go overhead. Gives me goosebumps. If you want to see it go here:

Note - the first time I looked for it I thought it would look like an airplane overhead but it is a steady light that does not wink on and off. Earlier this week the shuttle was docked with the space station but last night it had undocked and was kind of cool to see two lights in synchronous orbit.

Quite a few oldies listed today but this unforgettable dress is the one I picked to feature. New Look 6035 La Dolce Vita Dress With Net Skirting 1980's is so striking. It reminds me of a sultry Spanish lady look. There's something about New Look Sewing Patterns that are so unique.

Here's a fashion that strikes me as very Gina Lollabrigida - Simplicity 2991 Italian Starlet Sheath Dress / ca. 1959. If you click on the link take a look at the red printed dress "belt" - which is fastened in the front on this dress and in the back on the other style. Really puts the zing in an otherwise simple dress.

Found some big lots of New Look patterns that are on their way to me now. Keep an eye out for those as I like to list them quickly. Went thru some extra nice 60's for completeness last night and check for those too. I'll try to scan some more today for tomorrow or Saturday.

This skirt visually makes me think of a "skirt of many colors" - Style 2543 Picture Perfect Jacket & Swishy Skirt 1994. Looks like a bit of work but worth it.

I'm sure most of you also visit Erin McKean's site Dressaday and wow she is famous! Check this out: Wikipedia and now we know why she has such an awesome site! If you haven't visited her blog well I worry about encouraging you to do so - she has the cream of the crop of blog sites and I can only daydream about being as good as she is - sigh. But do it anyway!

Okay this is so politically incorrect but in 1951 who cared! Advance 5985 Coolie Coat & Trouser Pajamas / ca. 1951 is not particularly unique in design though it is cute but just them using the "C" word made me cringe and laugh at the same time.

I'm always looking for fashion terms and found a fun site for us children of the fifties. It is Slang a Hepcat's Guide oh the memories it brings back. There's a section called Kookie Talk and if any of you don't know who Kookie was well you haven't lived - grin.

Great find here! Woman's Day 5066 Button-Together Blouse, Halter, Skirt & Apron 1950's a very rare pattern. A retro housewife fashion for sure.

We all get emails of a dubious nature - proclaiming statements by people, or events that seem overblown. Well I found a great site that confirms or debunks urban myths and emails - www.esnopes.com and have used it alot. I never want to pass on an interesting email fact without confirming it. Check it out - it's a bit of a hassle with pop-ups but worth it.

The pattern I was going to put in sold already so no teases. Butterick 5702 Magnifique Caftan + Embroidery Transfer 1970's will do instead. Caftans never go out of style and are incredibly popular. I can barely keep any in stock and this is a rare beauty with transfer.

I'm going to ask you readers to submit a picture of your favorite pattern - even if you don't own it but it is your dream pattern. Kind of a show and tell that will feature your pattern!

A bit of a shift here - and some very good news for my family. My husband age 52 was diagnosed with prostate cancer a few months ago and had surgery on July 9 very successfully. He just had another PSA test and it was 0.00 the best of results. Cancer will eventually strike all of our families. No one is safe - education is the key. Because I lost my brother 6 years ago to prostate cancer my husband had a test every year without fail and it saved his life. Soooooo - have all your husbands, brothers, fathers and male friends from age 40 on get a PSA test. It's a simple blood test and could save a life. It's going to be 117 degrees today. That's the hottest so far this year. Later today my husband and I will eat an early dinner out and then go to The Mine Shaft and get in their pool with a swim up bar. I'll start out with a "Hard" Arnold Palmer (Iced Tea, Lemonade, Vodka) and then switch to just plain Iced Tea & Lemonade. My favorite stay cool refreshing drink. I will refuse to get out of the pool until it's dark!

This dress blows my skirt up! Mail Order 3434 Retro Trophy Wife Pattern 1960's that looks straight out of Mad Men with a trophy wife who is tipsy while waiting for her husband to get home from work - sloshing too many martinis. I mean didn't all wives in the 60's dress like this every day? Thankfully those days are GONE!

My Favorite TV Shows: Eureka and Warehouse 13 on the Syfy channel. Eureka is a charming and clever "feel good" show. Warehouse 13 is another clever and funny show with a twist. With all that's going on in our world these are my escape when I can't watch the news anymore. What is your TV show favorite escape?

One of my favorite pattern makers are New Look - the 1980's before they were absorbed into Simplicity were the best. New Look Patterns were very feisty in styling - bold - unique. Interesting Hollywood Pattern 845 "Market Boy" Two-Piece Frock 1930's which research states at 1940's but the style, and pricing indicate 1930's and Ann Dvorak made movies in the 20's and 30's. So it's got to be 1930's. Got a number of Hollywood patterns so keep an eye out.

Have any of you visited the Commercial Pattern Archive? It's way pricey to "join" but if you are wanting to do lots of research it might be worth it - or even get a group together to join as one. Sneaky huh LOL. They indicate right now a free online access to non-registered users but after I did some research I couldn't get back in. If you want to try use "guest" as ID and "pattern" as password. Let me know if you get in!

Interesting pattern here - Advance 400 Fantastic Half & Half Dress 1950's - which I researched diligently but couldn't find any similar. It has an odd number so I did guess at the dating but the style is certain 50's. This also didn't have a formal envelope as it was a mail order. Hmmmm. Anyone have any ideas or info on Advance mail order patterns? In any event this is an awesome fashion and if I didn't have the wrong shape for this I would try to make it. However being short and bubble-butted I think not - sigh.

Having a lovely cup of coffee right now and thought I would share my coffee lady with you. Patti at Alta Organic Coffee & Tea Company - being a total coffee snob I've been lucky to have found her and used her coffee beans for at least 8 years. Totally the best I have ever had. And no she didn't ask me to do this LOL - no money changed hands, etc. - I just love to rave about the quality of her coffee. Anyone else love coffee?

Bada bing bada boom! This is one rare baby. And it's complete in factory folds. Now who wouldn't make this dress - are they nuts?! Hollywood 1501 Sensational Starlet Evening Gown & Cape / ca. 1945

I have nowhere to wear this - in Yuma my dress shoes are rhinestoned flip flops. Do you have an event to wear this to? A dream event? Let me know what you dream of going to wearing this charmer.

Definitely a starlet or movie star fashion for the golden age of movies. They just don't make them like this anymore.

This jewel was hidden in the bottom of a box - Laura Wheeler 110 Irresitible Hostess Apron + Transfer 1937. When I researched it I didn't find any others on the internet but there was an "advertisement" page from a 1937 newspaper or magazine which I printed out and is included. This apron purposely omitted the shoulder straps and band because "they are straight strips." This pattern is truly a treasure!

I also dug out a Butterick 5230 Seven Way Wonder Dress 1970's which is super rare. I found only two others on the internet and even cut the stinkin' things were over $50! Get outta here! Okay I did list it a bit high but it is rare and sought after. It is so versatile and unique too.

This dress shouts "snob" - a slight nose in the air and she's just not looking at anyone who isn't someone. But who can resist? V-slits in sleeves and bodice of dress. Mail Order 9341 Wonderful White House Dress - Wow Bodice! 1960's

Well it's Saturday and this is it for me - got my patterns ready last night and they are up already. Today we are going out on the motorcycle (it's been 110-115 degrees lately but who's checking) for a benefit ride (a short one thank the Lord) for the Boys & Girl's Club of Yuma. We start at the LZ Harley Dealer (though we have a Kawasaki they will condescend to let us sign in LOL) and then ride to some different bars and there will be raffles etc. As hot as it is I imagine more water than beer will be consumed. Then we end up at Parrish's restaurant for lunch and more raffles. Price of burger & fries & beverage included with entry.

Wish me luck in not getting heat stroke!

So sorry I didn't get a chance to post anything yesterday! The weekend sale gave me lots of extra orders and I spent all day yesterday packing them up.

Here is my featured pattern for the day: McCall's 3455 Cheeky Bodysuit & Reversible Wrap-Skirt 1972 with just the cutest pockets ever. The tulip pocket is terrific. I couldn't find this pattern anywhere and this one is uncut to boot.

I put in a bunch of very hard to find 1970's McCall's patterns today too.

Just purchased a ton of 1940's and 1950's pattern lots that should be arriving later this week so check next week for a bunch of oldies. I have quite a few from those eras sitting by my couch to go thru and hope to have some listed in the next few days too. But I am quite excited about the ones to come as they look awesome!

Featured pattern today is this stellar "car" coat. Simplicity 5415 Oh So Retro Short Coat 1964. The short version is my fav - great for evening or with a pair of jeans. Dressy or casual. Okay I love it! Reminds me of a coat I had in the 8th grade - okay confession time - I could have made this coat in my sewing class in the 8th grade in 1964.

I've come across a bunch of 40's to 60's kids and toddler patterns a number of which are uncut or unused. Listed a few yesterday and more today. So if you need to start on school clothes for your kids check them out.
