Simplicity 4307 Retro Beach Babe Bathing Suit & Beach Coat / ca.1953

Just looked at the outside temp and it's 118.9 - I refuse to go outside.  My poor husband works in and out during the day at a garage and some days he melts when he gets home.  I will have an ice cold margarita ready for him when he arrives.  One for me too of course.

Here's a treat for featured pattern:  Simplicity 4307 Retro Beach Babe Bathing Suit & Beach Coat / ca.1953 one of that great lot I received.  Why do people put patterns in a manila envelope with the original envelope taped on it?  Why?  It's so destrustive.  Fries my cookies when I see that.  The beach coat is cut but the suit isn't.  It is extremely rare and sought after.  Frankly I priced it too high for my budget too but if you are a collector of rare patterns this is a lost treasure.

This early 50's pattern still retains that 1940's styling.  IMO it looks like a "bandeau" bodice only not bandeau.  Confused yet?

Next in line is a useful but also novelty pattern:  Simplicity 4149 Men's Debonaire Boxer Shorts / ca. 1953 described with "soft pleats" - cracks me up.  Not too many vintage men's undies patterns that I've found but they tend to go fast.  Just think how creative you can be with this - all kinds of fabric types and designs.  Kind of a personal adventure - grin.

Looking for a refiined robe?  Vogue 6656 Divine Housecoat or Brunch Coat 1951 which reminds me of the old style Hollywood "dressings gown" - envelope pretty awful but pattern very good.

Featured new patterns start out with this : Butterick 4369 Outstanding Dress with Forties' Flair 1996 which mostly caught my eye because of the contract bodice.  It is very pretty!

Here are two patterns just right for hanging around the house in that "Muu Muu" style:

Vogue 7271 Fashionista's Dazzling Coordinates / ca. 1968

Staying inside avoiding going outside - it's 114 right now and the sidewalks are starting to sizzle.  Got the A/C cranked on round the clock this month.  August is always the worst month for high temps.  We may take the boat to the river on Sunday but it's such a grueling chore to hook up, then launch and then do the same when we get off the river.  In between is heaven - sitting on a sandbar under the EZ-Up, bobbing like a cork in the water to cool off, napping, snacking - sigh - I'm ready to go!

Have two days to catch up on (no listing on Wednesday had a dr. appt).  Working on putting in some of that awesome lot I got recently.

Here are some of the top ones for Thursday:

Country Gentleman 2147 Lorraine's Afternoon Delight Dress 1940's - is that a little pocket on the shoulder?

Simplicity 4310 Norma Jean Bra, Shorts, Shirt & Skirt / ca. 1953 a super sexy summer wardrobe.  Rare as "hen's teeth" as the saying goes - grin.

Vogue 9525 Romantic Dress with Peeky Neckline 1958 an in your face reminder that the 50's had the best fashions ever!

Here are some from what I put in today:

Simplicity 3591 Striking Dress with Bodice Variations / ca. 1960 and you have to look past the bad discoloration to see what awesome dresses these are!

The "piece de resistance" for today is this Vogue 7271 Fashionista's Dazzling Coordinates / ca. 1968 a very rare pattern and I can see why - who could resist buying this and NOT making these!  Someone silly resisted and it's never been used.  Gives me goosebumps.

Here are some newish ones that caught my eye on Thursday and today:

This Simplicity 6467 Willowy Wrap Dress 1990's is one I've had before and it's very popular.  It doesn't usually stay in stock long.

This one is so temping to me - it's "me" - Butterick 3879 Perky "Bibbed" Jumper & Top 1995

How cute is this!  McCall's 5770 Unisex Nightshirt, Pajamas & Top for DOG! 2008

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend! I know alot of the U.S. is having quite warm weather but enjoy it while it's here - winter always arrives!

Les Patrons Universels 6509 Depression Era Élancé Skirt 1930's

Hope you all had a got shot at the sale over the weekend.  Quite alot of new and regular buyers enjoyed the sale.  Thanks so much!

It was a bit of luck to decide to have the sale when I did.  My boy kitty Pugsley who has been battling kidney failure got much worse Wednesday night and I had to have him put down on Thursday morning.  I had hoped to "home hospice" him but he turned a corner for the worse and I could tell he was suffering.  Luckily I had some medicine that I give his sister for her severe arthritis and I kept him sedated until the end.  Don't you just hate taking an animal to the vet and worrying about their last minutes being stressed?  He was too sleepy to be stressed and that made it easier on me.  Sitting at my desk today I keep thinking I hear him rustling around in the office and expect to see him when I turn around.  Weird - there are noises around the house I only associate with him and it's not his sister.

Mark on your calendar that I will be having an extended sale from July 25th thru the 29th.  My husband and I are going to Dallas, TX.  I will post the coupon code info on Tuesday the 24th that will go into affect on that Wednesday.   It's been a few years since we have actually gone somewhere!  We do alot of camping trips or down to visit family but this will be a traveling treat for us!  I hate to fly however.  Harry loves it so he gets the window seat and I get a few shots of Cuervo.

Featured new is the last of the 1930's for a while.  I am eyeballing a couple more from the lady I got these from but they don't blow my skirt up that much.  Les Patrons Universels 6509 Depression Era Élancé Skirt 1930's

This next vintage item has alot of them out there but I only found 2 that were uncut.  Simplicity 4238 Waifish Sleeveless Blouse / ca. 1953 and this is also uncut.  So charming!  The little faux pocket flaps, armhole trim, pixie collar - yum yum.

From darling to useful - McCall's 5604 Casual Outing Set of Stretch Knit Tops 1977 that I just find so appealing for me.  Being a bit tomboyish it's up my alley.  A great "throw on" top - for a cool day or for over a bathing suit.

Last vintage is : Spadea N-1012 High Society Front & Back Panelled Coat 1965 a rare find.   If you are looking for a winter coat or a raincoat check it out.

Three cute new patterns to feature today:

Les Patrons Universels 6189 Extrêmement Classique Dress 1930's

I'm doing a four day sale starting tomorrow!  The coupon code will kick in at midnight for 20% off for you readers.  The coupon code will be WAY2HOT since it is in the 110+ range these last few weeks.  Sale will last until Sunday night midnight.  I just need a few days off to heal this dang broken toe.  Too much time up and down a ladder just isn't helping it heal.  I will be mailing orders on and off but surely not later than Monday or Tuesday next week.  You'll get an email from Paypal to verify when your order ships.  ENJOY THE SALE!

Featured vintage pattern is another of those amazing 1930's patterns I just can't get enough of.  True eye candy.  Les Patrons Universels 6189 Extrêmement Classique Dress 1930's  This is my favorite so far - that boxy yoke and blouson bodice with gathers - oh my!  One more coming I think - oh yeah it is a skirt to die for.

More newer ones today that I just love than the vintage ones.  My favorite newish for today is this Style 2318 Heartbreaker Dress with Magyar (aka Batwing) Sleeves 1994.  I wanted to put this in quick quick before my customer friend Sandra grabs it LOL.  So far she's not seen it.  If you want it - be quick!  I actually learned something new today.  Had to look up Magyar Sleeve.  It doesn't look like a true batwing but well that's what it says.  No matter it's fantabulous!  Nuthin' like a vintage Style Pattern though the newer ones are nice too.  The 1980's and 90's are the best though IMO.  This one makes me want to put taps on my boots and twirl around until I get dizzy.

Off to the post office - have a fun time picking patterns out during the sale.  God Bless!

Patron Modele 28076 Depression Era Wrap Around Skirt 1930's

Learning some French lately - grin.  A Jupe Portefeuille is a wrap skirt. Patron Modele 28076 Depression Era Wrap Around Skirt 1930's - note the pretty lines of this skirt with a front kick pleat.

Next vintage is an Anne Adams.  In my favorite year (lately anyhow) the 1960's.  Anne Adams 4884 Betty's Haute Blouse & Skirt 1961 a look that is filled with class.

Keeping it short today - Mondays are tough getting it all together to list and ship.

For new listing this is an interesting Vogue from Langerfeld.  Vogue 1861 Commanding Jacket, Blouse & Pants 1996 which is a little hard to see as the pattern envelope is quite worn and faded.  Check out the C picture as the front of the jacket is pretty neat.  I could only find two on the internet though I imagine they pop up now and again but I had to laugh.  One was sold and one is for $75 - huh?  I mean it's nice but come on!  Must be a typo ??

Lastly I was quite taken with this Simplicity 3678 Knit Dress with Bodice & Sleeve Variations 2007 especially the sleeveless one which could also be used as a jumper.

Off to the post office!

Les Patrons Universels 7075 Fantastique Flirty Thirties' Dress 1930's

I sure hope you had a wonderful 4th of July!  I was having a wonderfully relaxing day until I broke a toe on my left foot.  No it's not just stubbed - I felt a break and since it is purple and swollen and I am unable to put any weight on it felt that was an accurate diagnosis.  Dang.  There is only one pair of flip flops that will even let me walk in them - barely.  It took all my time yesterday to just hobble around LOL.  Not much done really.  Not much done today either.

Had to put a few special listings in today that were put in the last few days.  Too awesome to not show you.

Two more 1930's ones:  Patron Modele 17041 Tres' Magnifique Wrap Peignoir 1930's and Les Patrons Universels 7075 Fantastique Flirty Thirties' Dress 1930's

I will put in another one on Monday and also have a couple more coming from this same lady.   For Mad Men fans check out Anne Adams 4593 Betty's Eye Popping Tight Dress 1963 and a bit more recent is this summery dress:  Marian Martin 9335 Sweet Summer Dress 1978 in a size 20 1/2.

What a sad picture this poor envelope has but the pattern is perfect:  Simplicity 8540 Epoch Evening Dress, Sash or Stole 1969 - and it's a rare uncut one.  A number of "cut complete" out there but this may be the only and last uncut in the world.  Just kidding.

Newer ones that I like this week are this Simplicity 7160 Breath of Fresh Air Dress & Belt 1991 and
another New Look 6781 Edgy Eighties' Supermodel Dress 1980's a right off the catwalk look.

Back to the couch and an ice pack on my foot.  Have a great weekend!

McCall's 3354 Amazing Hourglass Jumper & Blouse 1955

Oh if this were only not a junior miss pattern!  Arghhhhhh!  McCall's 3354 Amazing Hourglass Jumper & Blouse 1955 with that nip waist and big old skirt!  Life is so unfair sometimes.  It's a bit before my teen era but I do remember seeing my brother's girlfriends in this style.  I think Dan's girlfriend at that time was Patricia.  Oh she so wanted to marry him and he finally ran the other way.  He was in high school and didn't want any part of that marriage thing.  He actually didn't marry until he was close to 50.

For some reason I have ended up with some junior and teen patterns that are awesome except for the tiny sizing:  Mail Order 8779 Pretty as a Picture Frock 1940's

It actually has that same look at the 1950's one with a pinched waist and full skirt.  The more things change the more they stay the same or something like that.  I remember it blew it away when suddenly a few years ago bell bottom hip huggers came back - I can still picture Cameron Diaz wearing them.

And now for something completely different!  Simplicity 4632 Home Town Gal Dress or Pinafore / ca. 1944

Just love this shirtwaist dress:  Vogue 8075 Refined Shirtwaist Dress 1991 a great anytime - anywhere dress.

In a hurry today so a quick link to all listed - have a great day!

Butterick 6720 Island Fantasy Pantskirt & Scarf Top 1970's

Oh summer is here and look what I just found! Butterick 6720 Island Fantasy Pantskirt & Scarf Top 1970's

Someone buy this quick before I am tempted!

Found an interesting pattern that isn't one I have run across before.  It is a Jalie Sewing Pattern - a Canadian company.  As usual for out of US pattern makers the measurements are a bit of a hassle to figure out (it's probably just me) but some nice styles.

Yesterday a bit hectic - getting the remainder of the weekend mail out.  After some slow days oh my gosh some big orders made my head spin around - no complaints for sure just an excuse for not listing.  My first order of biz is scanning, editing patterns.  Then listing patterns which involve complete research on each and every one.  Then I go into my email, answer questions and write thank you's for orders.  Then I do the mail.  Pull patterns one order at a time (so I don't get lost - it has happened), delete them from pictures, put them into sold category, package up the order, do a thank you note, seal the envelope.  Once they are all packaged I go into Paypal and print labels.  For international orders I go into Stamps.com as Paypal doesn't allow first class international.  Then I do my blog.  Whew - makes me tired just thinking about it - grin.

One more vintage one:  Mail Order 9390 Figure Hugger Dress & Jacket / ca. 1960 a definite eye popper.  Vampish sixties' look.

Sadly it's a day by day situation with my old cat Pugsley.  It's weird for me to not have a cat live to be at least 19 - my brother and sister cats are 16 1/2 now.  My last cat was 19 and my first cat was 21 when I had to have them put down.  Pugsley has kidney failure and I thought for sure today was the day.  Not - he's a bit perkier.  Go figure - I'd already called the vet and gave her the head's up.  It's awful to think about taking an elderly kitty to the vet in a carrier.  What a stressful way to end their life.  My vet said to give him a benadryl and make him nice and sleepy before the trip.  If that doesn't work I'll make her give me a sedative for him.

More newer ones I like than the vintage ones today:

How cute is this one!  Butterick 3077 Work or Play Dress, Top & Skirt 2001 a really fun and versatile look.  It's sizes 18 to 22.  Wish it had been in my size.

There's becoming a fine line between vintage and new.  The 1980's patterns are becoming more scarce and the 1990's are almost 20 years old!  Mentally I still think of the 1980's and newer as new.

Simplicity 9098 Soft Looking Dress & Jacket 1989 and the adjective "soft" just popped into my head.  It just looks comfortable.

Last one for today is:  Vogue 9495 Conservative "Safari" Dress 1996 just a neat looking style.  Neat as in "neat as a pin" -

The contrast collar adds a nice touch too - the little hip flap pockets are a must have.

Simplicity 4707 April in Paris Dress / ca. 1954

Featured pattern today:  Simplicity 4707 April in Paris Dress / ca. 1954 which I almost titled Summertme in Paris but it didn't have the same ring to it.

Snug fitting bodice with little bows at shoulder and that huge skirt - A fancy American Grafitti dress.

In the next week I will be putting in some 70's patterns that have been cut but are complete.  Don't be horrified when I say I mostly throw them away.  Too many pantsuit or plain dress patterns that are uncut from the 70's to bother with putting used ones in.  Next decade I may live to regret that (grin) -

However the ones I recently came across are in very nice condition, scarce and lovely to look at too.  Plus they are all very reasonably priced since they are pre-used.  If these were unused they would be listed much higher because they have very desirable looks.  So hop over in the next few days.

Simplicity 5534 Winning One-Piece Dress 1964 a sweet sleeveless sheath look with a ruffled bottom.  Truly winning.

Here's a "Lucy" looking dress that I have had before so if you missed it last year here's another chance:   Marian Martin 9389 Lovely Lady Dress 1950's - that fashionable "tent" style that can be reined in with a belt - or not!

In the mood for a "Jackie" styled suit?  Hopefully this is in your size:   McCall's 8151 Highbrow Jacket, Blouse & Skirt 1965 with that so very slim skirt that no shapely woman can wear who has any kind of backside or hips.

The last vintage I'm putting in right now is one I have also had before and it jetted off to a new owner so quickly.  I was happy to find another!

Butterick 9131 Splendid Span Collared Dress / ca. 1960  the wide skirted dress is so "down home" housewife but the slim one says "career gal" -

Before I forget I wanted to mention I made some awesome pickled eggs (with hot pepper & onion) about 5 weeks ago.  Had to let them "marinate" for at least 4 weeks so we of course couldn't wait any longer than 4 weeks - started munching on day 30.  Oh my gosh what a culinary delight.  HOT yet delicious.

For newer looks:  Simplicity 8849 Cute as Can Be Overalls & Top 1994 - maybe not the height of fashion but I'm a fan of overalls.  Add a few embellishments or a super cute and bright shirt or blouse and this style has so much charm.

This pattern is hard for me to look at this time of year - oh my gosh it's a coat - argghhhhh!  It's 111 degrees right now and still going up.  Well okay just kidding:   There's something about a coat or jacket that has a "faux" fur collar or trim.  It adds an elegant touch.

A number of Kathy Lee patterns put in the last few days (thank you Joni!) that are very attractive and a bit "old fashioned" looking too. Simplicity 9425 Beguiling Two-Piece Dress 1995-  if you like this one here's a link to the others:  Kathy Lee Patterns

Last for today is another Vogue :  Vogue 1441 Decorous Shirtwaist Dress 1994 with a "hidden" button flap in the front.  Just plain loverly!

Hope you all had a lovely weekend!
