Very lovely 1960's dress featured today. Simplicity 6943 Sharp Mod Dress - Front Gathered 1966 - yoked bodice but the nice front seaming sets this dress apart. Not quite mod and not quite Jackie.
I got a huge batch yesterday that has a bunch of 70's and 80's uncut Vogues. Hope to have some listed early next week.
Tons of new Simplicity historical costume patterns too that will get listed starting next week too so if you're looking for authentic costumes check back.

Couldn't wait to post today! Came across this very rare 1940's Ladies' Home Journal 2410 Pattern of a peasant style blouse. It's a pre-cut tissue and complete and excellent condition for its age. It includes initial transfers for initials. Extra pretty are the waist darts which always are figure flattering. Does anyone know if this type of pattern was a mail order or was it included with the magazine? My research shows only a very few of this name brand.

Also got a bunch of late 1970's Buttericks that are so classy. This particular era of Butterick blow my skirt up.

Here are the other listings for today:

Today I have two patterns that are so different but are my favs for today's listings. The first is Mail Order 9246 Looker Blouse & Pleated Skirt 1960's. The blouse looks a bit 60's Starlet in style. Now that skirt - makes my mouth water. Great vertical waist seaming that I think would be very flattering and topping it off are those two pleats. What a combo! The next is Butterick 4292 Kittenish Wrap Halter Tops 1970's. Very rare pattern - I couldn't find one other on the internet and just happened to have a cover picture from years ago. I'm a sucker for big sailor collars.

Kind of a different featured pattern today. Vogue 1608 Vogue Attitudes Designer Isabel Toledo from 1995. A rare pattern. I called it "quirky" and it is! This has some unique features the back has pleats kind of like a bowling shirt and the View C (the big picture) has a funky angular peplum. Not sure how it would look on an actual human body LOL. View D the small on the right is just right! Nice darting and figure flattering. The shaping at the waist would be approved by Stacy at What Not to Wear. Four years ago after recovering from a 4th back surgery and laying on a couch in a back brace bored to tears I started watching What Not to Wear (the British show is the best!) and got hooked. Now I look at clothes differently and no matter how cute it is or the fabric strikes me it's the shape that matters. Anyone else out there watch that show?

I'm working on more listings this morning and will amend this blog later!

There's just something about vintage sewing books and magazines that fascinate me. I have a number of old Ladies' Home Journals from the 1930's thru 1950's to go through to get them listed next month. It's always tough to figure out what pictures to pick for listing as each and every page has such awesome illustrations. But up today is a 1953 Vogue Dressmaking Book. So anyone that loves old sewing tips especially from Vogue check it out. Also up today:

SALE STILL ONGOING SEE 7/24 POST BELOW!

Weekend is here and time for all those things that were put off all week. But I did get some lovelies in today and the featured pattern is Simplicity 4911 Slenderette Dress - Two Skirts 1960's and both designs are lovely but I especially like the slender skirt with the front inverted pleat.

Here is what I put in today:

SPECIAL SALE JUST FOR MY BLOGGERS: 15% Off all Orders! Use Coupon Code BLOG at checkout and thank you! Sale ends Sunday Nite.
Just finished my listing for today and I'll list some more oldies tomorrow. Here is what went up today:

The featured pattern is an Anne Adams 4746 from the 1960's. It is a back wrap dress and well that says it all! Of all I listed this is my favorite. But it was hard to choose because I found some neat ones from the 1960's. What is it about wrap dresses that just look great?! There is hardly an Anne Adams that isn't a winner. Mail Order Patterns have become very collectible and are often overlooked because they don't have the colorful envelopes and are often a better bargain.

I've been on a roll going thru some old patterns and counting pieces. My husband is scanning about 30 of them today for tomorrow's listing so be sure and check tomorrow. Most are 50's and 60's with quite a number uncut. The featured pattern for today is uncut and the zig zag neckline on View 1 is amazing. Not that the v-necked is chopped liver but dang! Simplicity 3013 / a figure flattering Slenderette design from the early 1960's.

Deep bodice pockets are the best feature from this 1940's New York Pattern 780. It has a two-piece skirt and "box plaits" - dainty little collar and the litle capped sleeved version is adorable. Nothing flashy about this dress but it is so very appealing as a "day" dress.

After a great late evening of miniature golf got to work this morning bright and early. I really have to brush up on my golfing skills is all I can say! Several special patterns to choose from but I picked this Vogue 6601 from the 1960's because it is both elegant enough for evening but is casual trendy too. Tres' Jackie Kennedy styling. I think she is one of the few first ladies to ever have a fashion buzzword. Truly no one will ever be the style icon that she was.

Pattern of the Day: Vogue 8084 Stellar Standing Collar Jacket 1980's. Not terribly vintage but this sure caught my eye. Very versatile, can be casual or stylish and the long one is outstanding.

I seem to be stuck in the 1960's this week. I have bags and bags of patterns to go thru and this particular bag has alot of that era. This pretty number is uncut and has a faux button front. A quickie pattern so even novice sewers shouldn't have trouble. It's listed to go off tomorrow so if you read this blog you will get an "advance." McCall's 7254 - I wish the purse was included!

Digging thru and counting pieces today to list some older patterns this afternoon found this awesome Givenchy dress from 1959. McCall's 4875 gathered dress, Size 16 Bust 36. I can picture some Paris designer show from 1959 and a supermodel strutting the catwalk in this dress!
Wondering if any of you have ever tried sewing with Burda patterns? I find the styles so unique and often quite different than American fashions. Their sizing is a bit bizarre and I'm a little afraid to try something and mess it up. Any hints or warnings out there LOL? I'll be listing some interesting Kwik Sew patterns from the 1970's and 1980's today that I found this week so if you are into Kwik Sew look later today.

I couldn't wait to put this in to show you. This McCall's 5505 from 1960 is a 7-panel princess dress and it is UNCUT. I could not find one other anywhere on the internet. It always amazes me when I find something like this that no one bothered to actually make. What were they thinking. The 7 panel feature is unique - I don't think I've seen one quite this pretty before. I have "listed" it for tomorrow but you can access it right now if you want to jump on it. Here is the link: Out of the Ashes Collectibles. Here's more on vintage sewing patterns which has some great info: Vintage Sewing Patterns

Here is my favorite pattern that I listed today!
It's a 1950 McCall pattern with the greatest triangular bodice. Very rare and is complete. Definitely a fashionista delight!
