Kwik Sew 173 Ladies' One Piece Halter Swimsuit 1970's

Short but sweet listings the last two days!  Looking forward to getting my patterns organized and bookkeeping straightened out starting tomorrow thru next Wednesday.  No blogs or listings but orders will still be processed.  Starting my sale tonite at midnight so for you readers a 20% off sale until I am back!  When midnight hits get yourself a cup or two of coffee and starting shopping.  Use coupon code TIME4ME at checkout.

Certainly had older and more "vintage" but decided that the featured vintage pattern today is:  Kwik Sew 173 Ladies' One Piece Halter Swimsuit 1970's.  After all it's still spring and summer is rushing toward us (or we wish).

With gas prices skyrocketing I have taken to doing my mail first and listings second so that I can give them to the mailman instead of driving them to the post office.  Saves alot on gas.    So from now on listings will be late morning or early afternoon unless I can get ahead with this time off and start doing them the night before.  Yeah right LOL.  Like you I am trying to cut costs -

McCall's 3807 College Gal's Skirts with Matching Sweater Trims 1956 and McCall's 9774 Perfect Skirt for the Retro Diva 1954

Two great vintage skirts competing for featured pattern today.  Couldn't decide to both are here for you to drool over:

I've been wracking my brains to figure out how to find the time to do the things I need with the business, i.e., finish importing and filling in all the Quickbooks stuff and also cleaning out the older patterns on my site and figuring out if I am to keep them and "relist" or throw away.  That takes alot of research and just plain time and deciding.  Soooo I will be taking some "vacation" time Friday thru the following Wednesday.  All buyers other than you readers will get 15% off but you will have 20% off.  I will post on Thursday the coupon code for you readers!

Featured new is one more of the catalog patterns from Joni: Vogue 9910 Luncheon or Dinner Dress 1980's - this look is just so so classy!

Simplicity 9359 Groovin' Dress or Tunic & Shorts 1971

In the Summertime Simplicity 9359 Groovin' Dress or Tunic & Shorts 1971 - this pattern just screams "Hippie"

Hope you all had a lovely Easter.  We went to "sunrise" service and then the regular service.  A little surprised that the "sunrise" service started at 7 a.m.  Wow - do they think we are lazybones?  No matter it was lovely and moving.

Growing older has its benefits but one of them is NOT moving beyond an Easter Basket.  Filled with chocolate bunnies, Peeps (my personal favorite), colored eggs, and jelly beans.  Oh and don't forget the Easter Egg hunt.  We had a huge back yard and lots of nooks and crannies to hide eggs.  I can remember finding eggs months later LOL that my mom had hidden and forgotten about.

Several "new" were up to be featured today but I picked the one that I have a number of in varying sizes.  I always hate to disappoint with a great looking pattern in just a particular size.  This should suit most of you!  McCall's 7666 Strappy Backed Dress or Jumper 1995

Advance 3482 Fashion Maven Dress - Right Out of "Mad Men"! 1964
a rare pattern that I happened to find another of and bought it!  This is a Junior Miss one but check next week for a Misses' Size 14 Bust 34.

While shopping last week I came across 4 Elle magazines.  At 10 cents each I snagged them just to look thru.  There was a blurb in one about a 1960's model named Veruschka.  Do you remember her?  I did and recall she was so tall and exotic looking.  Here is a link to some of her modeling pictures (some are so spectacular you want to frame them and put them on a wall) if you remember her or are curious and I've included one of her pics that is so memorable to me:

She was truly Iconic in the full sense of the word.

Vogue 1865 Dress with Dishy Bodice Variations 1980's

Sorry to miss a few days - since my husband went back to work and business has grown so much I am doing it all by myself - whine whine whine.  After scanning and researching and listing and packing up packages, emailing customers I've been collapsing in a heap on the floor.  Have you ever read Eloise?  She was one of my childhood heroes along with Nancy Drew.  I scanned Eloise to show you how I look at the end of morning listing.

If you haven't read the Eloise books and you have little girls please buy them!  Your daughter will love them.  I still have my original Eloise book and it is beat up so badly from me dragging it around and reading it over and over.

Won't forget the Friday Sale this week.  Pinned a note to my pillow!  If you buy any one pattern from the months of July - August - September get 25% OFF all of your order!  Use coupon code OLDIES during checkout after midnight tonite until midnight Friday.  I am trying to clean out those months to make room for new stuff.  Often the older listings get forgotten and truthfully if I don't delete them I relist them if they are super nice and are 8 or 9 months old.  Here are the links for those months and there are some treasures in them.  JULY 2010 and AUGUST 2010 and SEPTEMBER 2010

Not super vintage but couldn't pass up one of the Catalog Vogue patterns that Joni sold me:  Vogue 1865 Dress with Dishy Bodice Variations 1980's and if you still have a summer dress that you need one of these should fit the bill.  The "wrap" halter is nice but I favor the tank top one.  I'd better get to lifting those weights to firm up the flabby arms that seem to have appeared overnight.  I swear I woke up the other morning and when I got up my underarms stayed on the bed.

Featured  new is: Simplicity 9122 Lovely "Slip" Dress & Jacket 2000 for day or evening.  Feel a little cool - slip on the jacket.

Simplicity 1158 Enchanting Full Skirted Dress / ca. 1955

Another awesome batch of catalog patterns arrived here from Joni.  Just glanced at them but they are great - I find it odd that most of the patterns that are "catalog" I rarely find them on the internet.  Have to wonder if they were sold mostly thru the manufacturer and not sent to the stores.  Does anyone know?  I find this is as true for Vogue as Simplicity.

Featured new is:  Simplicity 8762 Irresistible Summer Dress & Overskirt 1999 - there's something about overskirts that are so attractive and feminine.  The bodice shaping is so pretty - almost a "bustier" look about it though it isn't at all "sexy" like a bustier usually is supposed to be.  Wholesome is the word I was looking for!

Simplicity 6291 Amazing Pullover Top & Skirt 1974

Simplicity 6291 Amazing Pullover Top & Skirt 1974 with jut the neatest skirt - insets that make it super full and makes you want to spin in circles so it flares all around you or pick up the front and stamp your feet in a wild dance!  Oh my it's too early in the day for that much imagination.

Missed yesterday sorry.  Learning Quickbooks is testing my patience and resilience.  When I finish this one of two things will happen.  I will sign into Quickbooks and try again or put my head in the dryer.

Featured new is a masterpiece:  Vogue 1788 Well Dressed CEO Coat, Skirt & Top 1986 and that coat has got to be red!

Butterick 2524 Haute Couture Box Jacket, Overblouse & Skirt / ca. 1963

Featured vintage pattern is one I had a while back and was pleased to find another:  Butterick 2524 Haute Couture Box Jacket, Overblouse & Skirt / ca. 1963

Had to do quite a bit of work to clean it up to post.  It was very "foxed" - and didn't scan very well.  Sometimes I pass over patterns that look too icky but this was uncut!  Very svelte looking - everything has a slim lined style.

Thank you Nancy for a trip down memory lane talking about our pets.  Got down on all fours and dug thru old photo albums to find a few old pictures of my old mare (who passed away a few years ago at age 34) and a lovely palomino stallion we had for a few years.

Thought I'd share and yes that is me in 1978 and 1979 hee hee.  Totally Brady Bunch bubble head permanent hair.  Sometimes a walk down memory lane is more like a nightmare of fashion.

My mare was 6 or 7 in these pictures and me well I was pushing 30.  I had Robin since she was born in 1972.  Hand raised her which was so fun but alot of hard work as you can imagine.  She was very personable and loved people.  She could care less about other horses or animals she thought she was human.  Never mean or cranky just a stubborn streak but still sweet.  The perfect horse who even if she was uncertain would listen to me and trust me.  Okay I sure miss that time of my life.

The stallion was a well known (at that time) Palomino - Quarter horse stud that we had always admired and when the chance came we snatched him up.  We intended to breed him with my mare but two horses were too much work and so we gave him up to another fan of his after about 2 years.  Working full time, being married and having two horses to ride and exercise and care for was over the top but it was still hard to give him up.  The most gentle and easy going horse I've ever had especially for a stallion.  I used to ride him with a hackamore not with a bit and even bareback he was so well behaved.  My mare was a handful and when friends would visit I'd let them ride him.  Wasn't he a beauty!

Featured new is:   Simplicity 5191 Sexy Shirtdress, or Tunic & Pants 2004 - the reason I say "Sexy" is because the blond on the cover sure looks like Paris Hilton and makes that rather nice shirtdress a true hottie.  There is just something "neat" and tidy looking about these outfits.  I like them.

Just a quickie link to my listings today as I am racing out the door to a doctor appointment.  Some lovely "new" oldies and interesting newies and some rather odd "Mannequin" patterns from the 1940's for 12 1/2 mannequin dolls.  Hmmmmm.

Simplicity 4783 Cocktail Party Dress with Two Skirts / ca. 1963

Special reader sale tomorrow!  Couldn't decide on a buy one get a discount so it will be a straight up 20% sale whatever you buy!  It starts at midnight tonite and ends midnight Friday.  Put in coupon code at checkout ANYTHING and thanks for reading and shopping!

Simplicity 4783 Cocktail Party Dress with Two Skirts / ca. 1963 it the featured pattern today.  It's one of the hard to find plus size patterns with flair.  Slenderette Patterns were designed to slim out the plus size figure.

Being a news, politics, financial news fanatic the rising prices in gas is triggering rising prices everywhere and you know it from going to the grocery store.  An interesting article on GoldPrice about what is happening and forecasted for us.  When you go there scroll down for the article.  I urge you all to read it - information is the key!

A treasure trove of old patterns with NAMES on them lately making me happy.  I put in patterns today from Selma and also Minnie - how great is that name!

Featured new is - ta da!  Another Burda.  Couldn't resist this one:  Burda 7761 Radical Sleeveless Dress 2000's and I love it!

Mail Order 2741 Catherine's Dress with Fine Stitching / Late 1940's

Mail Order 2741 Catherine's Dress with Fine Stitching / Late 1940's or very early 1950's.  It's always hard to tell when the envelope has 1 1/2 cents postage as that covers a wide range.  It looks early 50's but there was such a "crossover" in style during that time - IMO of course.

Our Catherine sure had an eye for style - nicely fitted bodice with little cap sleeves or long cuffed sleeves and that full skirt.  The stitching is so attractive.

One of "Mabel's" patterns got snatched up yesterday.  There's still one left.

Featured new was hard today.  I purchased a bunch of "catalog" patterns all from the 1980's.  Some great New Look Patterns (before they were taken over by Simplicity), some Vogue and some Simplicity.  Finally settled on:  Vogue 9955 Mischievious Camisole & Petticoat 1980's
with a "bustier" styled camisole.  This would make a great bride's trousseau -

Marian Martin 9085 Mabel's Hit Parade Blouse & Skirt 1950's and Marian Martin 9008 Mabel's Center of Attention Dress / Late 1940's or Early 1950's.

There are two featured patterns today because a Mrs. Mabel Wood from Madison Heights, Virginia was a fashion icon who saved her old patterns for me to find.

She deserves a "Shout Out" for Marian Martin 9085 Mabel's Hit Parade Blouse & Skirt 1950's and Marian Martin 9008 Mabel's Center of Attention Dress / Late 1940's or Early 1950's.  In spite of her "old fashioned" name she rocked in the fashion world obviously!

A customer who purchased a pattern earlier this year for a play "Picnic" was kind enough to send me pictures of the play featuring the dress and it is so spectacular!  The fabric used was right on too.  Thank you Anthony!

Featured new is so summer casual.   McCall's 6997 Loose Fitting Dress, Jumpsuit & Romper 1994  just perfect for a hot day hanging around or strolling outside.

A friend forwarded me a link to a video compilation / collection of famous dancers and dance scenes from movies.  Made me want to absolutely twirl, bebop, shake my booty!  YouTube Music Video put your dancin' face on!

Advance 5025 Superb Pointy Bodice Dress / ca. 1948

Advance 5025 Superb Pointy Bodice Dress / ca. 1948 very "hoity toity" - the button bodice version yum yum.  I appreciate the uniqueness of a regular button front and button bodice dress.

Got started late today and darn if the internet kept blinking out every minute or so for about 2 hours.   I had to laugh - using a hammer on the computer didn't seem appropriate.

Featured "New" is Simplicity 8614 Foxy Halter Dress, Jumpsuit & Romper 1988 with a superb cross-over halter bodice.  A very rare and unique pattern.

A friend (oh yeah that was you Nancy!) sent me a YouTube video that made me laugh so hard I had tears in my eyes.  If you like YouTube here's the link:  Atlanta Weather Girl Report

Vogue 7688 Best Dressed Evening Dress in Two Lengths 1970's

20% off sale ends tonite at midnight.  Buy any one 1980's pattern and get the sale price on your entire order.  1980S is the coupon code!

Vogue 7688 Best Dressed Evening Dress in Two Lengths 1970's a catalog order.  It comes with the original catalog page with all the pertinent info.  It's an oversized page and was tough to try and get in a listing so I had to chop the picture in half and put the other picture in separately.  The second and right half of this picture is included here!  The black and white checked is my favorite!  Maybe what attracts me is the tire on her head.

One of my international customers used a word I had never heard before "clowndoctor" - when I asked her WTH she told me that is a term for doctors that administer to children to help them get thru devastating illnesses.  Wow - Truly these doctors are to be blessed.  Here is the web site about what they do:  CLOWNDOCTORS

Featured new today is:  Butterick 4794 Disarming Dress with Variations 2006 not the most beautiful I've seen but so charming.  The variations available with these newer patterns are an extra added touch that I like.  New patterns aren't always as charming as vintage ones but when you can mix and match details the sewer can make their own personal touches.

Have a lovely weekend!
