Marian Martin 9765 Perfect Swing Dress / Early 1940's one of those patterns I can close my eyes and actually see it on Ingrid Bergman at Rick's in Casablanca while Sam is playing As Time Goes By. Talk about a ten tissue movie this is it.

Heading out late today to Glamis Sand Dunes to spend New Years with some good friends from California. Craig & Karen and their kids, Tom & Terri and Rick and some of their friends. Brought the margarita machine - and extra firewood too.

Simplicity 4906 Wonderful Wartime Dress / ca. 1944 and can't you just see someone doing the boogie woogie in this - great visual! Too bad the hat isn't included in the pattern - can't decide if it's retro chic or just plain ugly. Been on a scanning frenzy - have pics for tomorrow and Thursday and will take my scanner and laptop camping and do scanning there just to get ahead. Start the new year off right. Okay well camping is not exactly what we do - no tent just a 40' 5th wheel with a garage for the off road car - it's called a "Toy Box" - Queen size bed, walk in shower, microwave, flat screen tv and DirecTV hookup - the works. I already did the tent thing, I'm too old to sleep in the dirt anymore.

I will be having A SALE for End of Year! It will start Thursday. I haven't figured out the coupon code yet so stay tuned. It will be for 15% off.

Simplicity 3915 Girl's Middle School Retro Dress 1941 - love it when a pattern is actually dated. I can check the charts I have to get an approximate date but having those 4 numbers is a treat.

I hope you all had a wonderful, family filled Christmas. Any new sewing machines out there?

Nice to have one of my readers here snatch up that halter dress from my last listing. She told me that she had been searching for years to find it. I knew it was special!

Butterick 7349 Knockout Wrap Halter Dress & Overskirt / ca. 1955 This beauty has issues but since I couldn't find another anywhere in the world after major searching someone will get a true treasure with this. Must be an expert though as it doesn't have any instructions and is missing a facing piece - who needs facing anyway! The style is amazing!

Merry Christmas to you all! I don't plan to blog again until Monday (but if I list any this weekend I'll put up something quick!). It's still feels odd to have Christmas without snow (it's been 6 years since we moved to Yuma) but since I can go outside and do yardwork today I'll get by LOL.

My husband and I went to see Avatar yesterday. What a ride. Literally. After an hour of swooping cameras and computer graphics sliding around and up and down I got motion sick and had to wait in the car until the movie was over. I wanted to cry. I get motion sick easily but never during a movie. The part I watched was absolutely thrilling and awesome. I think when it comes out in Blu-Ray I can tolerate it on the home theater. Hope so anyway!

There was never any doubt when I listed this that I would feature it in my blog. Vogue 7284 Spectacular High Society Dress 1951 - Doesn't this just reek of rich? It does have a huge problem however - no instructions - sigh. But since this is the only one in existence someone with skills (unlike myself) could snip snip and voila it. I also put some extra mail orders with a darling 1930's girl's dress.

Well time to get my house chores done so we can have a relaxing Christmas day and weekend! I'll be listing tomorrow and then take a few days off. Not sure if I will list on Saturday but if I get some extra time I will so check in!

Burda 4137 Uber Hippie Hipster Pants 1990's bringing back memories of those flower child days with a hint of contemporary in them. Had some oldies to post but liked this one best!

Apologies for missing yesterday. We stayed an extra night - all by ourselves. Sat around a campfire and just enjoyed being outdoors and alone. Got home yesterday around lunchtime and scanned like a madwoman to get a listing in today. But I did it!

Spadea S-201 Femme Fatale Wiggle Dress 1954 - what an eye popper! I especially like the underarm stitching which has to make it fit the bust tight as can be. Can she breathe? Maybe that's why she has that distant look in her eyes - it's from lack of oxygen.

No listings tomorrow or blog - Last minute camping trip with friends - I swear we are always going camping but I do love it so. Gives me lots of "down" time but I have two huge bags of patterns to sort thru and I kick back and count pieces to relax. I'll head home tomorrow for a quick mailing (it's an hour away) and check on my kitties. We normally take them but we have our friend Brian (aka The Rent A Kid) coming to stay with us and guys just don't worry about open doors and I am too much a worrywort (remember your mom saying that - smile).

ALSO!!! If you haven't checked out my friend Melodee's new website please do and pass it on to friends. Starting a business is so tough and getting the word out is very important. If she didn't have awesome products I wouldn't encourage you - but she does!

Anne Adams 4441 Wow Wartime Blouse & Skirt 1940's that reminds me of Joan Crawford except it needs more shoulder padding. Kind of expect her eyes to twinkle - right out of a detergent commercial. It was a toss-up between this and an Anne Adams one to feature (okay here is the link to it - Anne Adams 4863 Bombshell Wiggle Dress, Jacket & Two Boleros 1950's but don't want to crowd too many pictures here!

Heading out in 30 minutes for a dentist appt in Mexico. We have a fabulous dentist there with more modern equipment and technology than I've seen here in the U.S. - really! Plus there's the added bonus of getting Jose Cuervo Tequila about $6 cheaper too. Woo hoo.

Mail Order 8380 Sparkling Wrap Around Dress 1960's what a little gem! One of a number of new mail order patterns I got recently. Most were uncut or factory folded. I went thru dozens of 40's and 50's last night for completeness. What a great job I have! Scanning now a bunch of those for tomorrow. Here are the mail orders I put in today: Mail Order Patterns. Also got a bunch of neat Stretch & Sew Patterns.

Got a tiny bit of rain yesterday and last night but about 4 feet of wind. Chairs blown over on the patio and every tree in the neighborhood contributed to a pile on my patio. Thanks a bunch - grin.

A neat old Christmas pattern listed today.

Simplicity 1846 Festive Christmas Apron + Applique / ca. 1956 - is there any cuter apron anywhere on earth? And for Nancy - yes it does make you cook better and clean house better too! Some weird osmosis thing. A nice stiff fabric and/or lots of starch a must.

Bad for me - lucky for you - came down with a bad cold while camping so spent most of my time inside the 5th wheel bundled up and sorting thru old patterns and doing scanning. Wow I'm actually ahead. Doing alot of sniveling & sniffling and generally feeling sorry for myself. It's lunchtime and I'm still in my jammies.

Butterick 3407 Simply Divine Dress - Front & Back Pleats 1985

Learned a new word with this one "Pirt" - Vogue 6160 Rockin' Blouse & Pantskirt "Pirt" 1960's. This is me in our Prowler just outside of Spooky Canyon which wasn't really Spooky just fun. Okay didn't make it home Sunday nite because we were having way too much fun! I am working right now on pictures to go in later today. We got home late morning Monday and packed my guts out so all paid orders ship today! Ocotillo was awesome and we spent almost every day touring the desert and mountains with some rather adventurous trails to say the least! Weather in the low 90's so very comfortable.

Simplicity 1201 Pixie Blouse & Overblouse / ca. 1955 - I just can't tear my eyes away from this blouse. That little bow tied shoulder - sigh.
I didn't list as many today as normal because we got a last minute invite to go to Ocotillo Wells in California to go camping and we leave tomorrow. I'll list some more in the morning before we leave BUT of course a sale is in order because I won't be able to mail anything until Monday/Tuesday. I'll figure out a coupon code and put it in tomorrow so head over and make out your shopping list!
Question - do any of you do any off-roading? This is actually a misnomer because there is no actual going off the road. Riding is done on dirt roads - anyone who leaves the dirt road is asking for trouble and deserves it!

Butterick 5526 Convertible Collar Knit Top 1970's - nothing fancy here but this really caught my eye. Classy casual. I picture putting that black and white or solid white on and heading down to the harbor for a sail. There were several oldies I could have put in but loved this one.

Forgot that yesterday was International Wear a Dress Day. I didn't catch Erin's blog about it - dang. Do wish it was in the summer instead of early winter. Sundresses rule here in the summer. Did any of you know about the occasion?

I'm ahead for once so listings ready to blast off tomorrow too so we are heading out this afternoon to do some target shooting (okay I know it's hard to visualize LOL). There's a great range in the mountains near us and with the temps in the 70's a perfect day to be outside. I can't believe I missed yesterday! I was on a scanning and picture editing frenzy and drifted into a black hole. The good news is lots of great patterns all ready to list and a rare occasion when I am ahead. Wow. Vogue 7018 Ethnic Unisex Caftan 2001 for all you caftan lovers. It's a Koko Beall design.
Ran across a website that shows how to resize patterns. So if you are looking at a pattern that just isn't the right size check it out: Resizing Patterns - if there is a better one out there let me know so I can share it.
Finally cold here. It went from 80's two days ago to 70's and now it will be in the 60's today. Arctic. It was 43 when we got up this morning. Long jammies, long robe, tall furry slippers in place and ready to get coffee. Those of you in those cold climes are probably thinking I am such a whiner. But been there before! At Mono Lake where we used to live it is 20.1 degrees. Goosebumps happening right now!

Oh So Retro Beret & Hand Bag / 1940's a one of a kind pattern for sure. Unfortunately it is missing the "Hat" but the beret and bag are uncut and ready to go. Frankly IMO that hat is too boring to bother with - that kitschy little beret is the bee's knees. Don't wear it in a strong wind or even bend over - it would be terribly undignified to be chasing it down the street. Oh wait - is this where hat pins came in?

Are hats back in fashion? Did they ever go out? The only time I wear a hat is when I have to. In the sun (that dang Irish skin sunburns badly) or to keep my hair from turning into dredlocks when on the motorcycle or off roading. Only in the movies do ladies take hats off and their hair looks "perfect" -

Butterick 5015 Outstanding Button-In-Back Blouse / ca. 1949 which covers the gamut from June Allyson to Joan Crawford. Another one of those patterns that just isn't to be found - it's pre-cut tissue and is missing the "tab" piece which fortunately is a no big deal. Even "I" can replicate that LOL. The big lot of old patterns I picked up last week has a ton of blouses that I'm still going through but this is one of my favorites.
After I finish this blog my honey and I are heading to the swap meet and then maybe later today or tomorrow for sure we are loading up the bicycles for an adventure at West Wetlands Park. We got handlebar coolers with a cup holder so we can bring some water (or in Harry's case beer) and an energy bar which I will need to drag my lard butt down the trail. It's that time of year here at last. Oh oh - I got one of those upside down tomato planters for the patio which I'll get going this weekend. Anyone have any luck with that? Maybe I'll put in some squash in a pot too.
Do any of you do Facebook? I put some pictures in of our trip last weekend to the sand dunes. I'm not in the shots luckily - this was a "guy" trip and I was back at camp relaxing. If you Facebook look up Sheila Savell.

Okay not an oldie but oh it is so cute. Looks like a 1940's swing dress. McCall's 8622 Swing Looking Dress & Belt 1983 and how odd to start feeling that the 1980's are now IMO falling into the "vintage" category. It doesn't seem that long ago but this is a a 26 year old pattern! That is yesterday to me. Oh and it's a Foxy Lady design woo hoo.

Looking to make some Christmas decorations? Now's the time - start early! Ornaments, stocks, tree skirts, Santas, snowmen and more.

Now is the season for yard and garage sales to be exploding in our area. The snowbirds are flying home and cleaning house and that's my big project this weekend. Anyone else addicted?

Simplicity 4967 Pretty Pilgrim Collar Dress 1950's - the pilgrim collar "makes" this dress. Oh well except for that multi-gored skirt! There is alot of stitching to make this dress - but worth it.
While researching to find a Chanel jacket pattern for a customer I found a fun blog site just for Chanel Jacket Lovers - Go Chanel or Go Home which I enjoyed tremendously. So Chanel fans head on over and check it out.
Do you have any favorite blog sites or Facebook sites relating to patterns or fashion? Let me know and I'll post them.
Any special plans for Halloween? We have friends going back out to the sand dunes to camp but too many drunken goblins for us to go. But we could get talked into it LOL - what's sad is we live in a neighborhood with no kids. The first year we lived here I had my big bowl of candy and was all excited and not one kid showed up. I almost cried - oh okay I did cry. Hope you gets lots of kids!

Simplicity 8110 Razzle Dazzle One-Piece Dress & Cape / ca. 1949 - I love this one! A hard to find 1940's Simplicity Designer's Pattern (I only have one other but another one to list this week!). Sometimes I am speechless over a pattern and this is one. I keep picturing a tweed pattern instead of the B&W checks.

Oh oh if you are into "muu muu" styled patterns check this one out:

McCall's 6056 Uber Retro MuuMuu Lounger 1961 a fun kitschy house dress. Couldn't decide between the Simplicity or this one to feature.

After my newsletter I had quite a few wish list requests and with one exception (A Chanel Jacket Pattern) found them all. One of my customers has a long list that I'm going to go thru today and tomorrow and hope I don't disappoint - smile. As a crossword puzzle addict this is fun for me so send in your most wanted!
