Vogue 9475 High Voltage Blouse & Camisole 1985

The special sale for you readers tomorrow is ... Buy ANY 1980's pattern and get 20% off your entire order.  Use coupon code 1980S at checkout!  Sale is Midnight tonite to Midnight Friday.

Featured "vintage" today isn't terribly old but I didn't get a chance to sort thru the oldies to list for today but who cares when this pattern is listed!  Vogue 9475 High Voltage Blouse & Camisole 1985

I recently acquired a lot of Kwik Sew Patterns that don't have envelopes.  Some of them I had recently and still had the pictures but most of them I had to search like crazy around the internet to ahhhhh "borrow" the pictures.  If you are interested in any get them quick because they are all hard to find.  More go in tomorrow too.

Featured new is one of those Kwik Sew's:  Kwik Sew 3536 Dropped Waist Dress - A Beauty! 2000's my favorite of the bunch.  The waistline is very flattering and of course the surplice bodice super too.

Simplicity 3483 Exceptional Misses' Tailored Dress 1940

Oh my - Tuesday was a "lost day."  A morning doctor appointment forgotten until I saw I had a message on my phone which was a reminder call from the doctor.  Set the land speed record for getting ready and driving there.  Then I sat for an hour hee hee.  Being a patient person (most of the time) I played games on my phone and caught up on the Hollywood gossip (People magazines theirs not mine).  Took advantage of being "in town" and hit the thrift stores.  Found almost 50 great patterns along with some old knit and crochet books, and some summer tops for me.  Also got  a few things I will take pics of and put on the Thrift Collective site.  My find of the day was surely a bobble head cat in lime green with wild colors that is a toothbrush holder.  Get Outta Here!  It now sits in "my" bathroom as a centerpiece of cute but tacky.  Topped the day off by taking my husband (who works in town) to a sushi dinner.  Only able to have one "container" of hot sake - darn.  Getting a DUI is not on my Bucket List.

Tomorrow's listing and posting I expect will be late too so don't set the alarm too early to check it - yeah right LOL.

To make up for missing yesterday I put in a bunch more "oldies" - and the featured pattern was hard to pick.  It was between 4 of them.  Finally opted for:  Simplicity 3483 Exceptional Misses' Tailored Dress 1940 (it actually has the date inscribed on the envelope) because I love View 1 with the four little V-pockets.  It also has a lovely great waistline and then those soft pleats finish off the dress.  This dress has absolutely everything going for it.  Short or long sleeved.  Collar or no collar.  Pockets or no pockets.

Nancy I didn't forget the links you gave me.  I had planned on going thru everything last night but .... so as soon as I peruse them I will post and they look great and I believe you will find them both interesting and useful.  Nancy never disappoints!

The featured new is certainly IMO "age specific" - grin.  But if you can carry this off or have a friend or daughter who can woo hoo!  Burda 8313 Discotheque Sexy Tops 2000's and can you see the strobe lights from the Disco Ball?

McCall 6796 Eye Popping Oversized Coat 1947

McCall 6796 Eye Popping Oversized Coat 1947 an early spring listing but if you are looking toward next winter you'll be the fanciest and most chic wearer of this next winter.  1940's Coat Patterns with those big Joan Crawford shoulders are so stylish - do you have to be tall to make them look right?  I swear I'd look square ---

The weekend camping trip was too windy so instead of riding or walking I stayed inside and scanned pictures for this week and went thru some oldies to confirm all the pattern pieces are there.  Read one entire book and started another, napped, snuggled with the kitties.  It was heaven.  No matter how determined we are on the weekend to read or rest there's always something to do.  Being stuck in the middle of the desert forces inactivity during poor weather.

Great looking suit for the featured new:  Burda 8587 Offset Buttoned Jacket & Skirt 2000's - though it features a plus size model this pattern is a multi-size from small to large.

20% Off Sale

No blog for Thursday or Friday as we leave early tomorrow morning for our camping trip.  It will be so fun to see some friends we haven't seen in a while.  Our "Rent A Kid" Brian will be there too!  We didn't have kids so it's fun to "rent" one once in a while and truly Brian is so "adoptable" - just what I would have wanted if we'd had a son.  Wow hope he never reads this he is already spoiled.

Being away is a good time for a sale so use coupon code SEWLOVE at checkout to get 20% off your entire order.  It's good until Sunday Midnight so you can always come back for seconds - grin.

Will have my laptop and cell phone with me but with a very poor connection it's hard to communicate it takes so long.  Glamis has a very poor connection but at least you can expect a quick and brief note acknowledging your order.  As always will try and get most orders out on Monday but at latest paid orders ship Tuesday.

Happy shopping and "see" you on Monday.

New York Pattern 1229 "Smartly Styled" Dress 1940's

20% OFF SALE Starts at midnight tonite and goes until midnight Sunday.  Your coupon code is SEWLOVE.  Put code in during checkout for your discount and have fun shopping!  We are going camping at Glamis and I'm bringing my metal detector again.  A long way to go before it pays for itself - I found $1.12 last trip hee hee.  My buddy Kim can't come this trip so I'll have to keep myself busy - if you're reading this Kim prayers coming your way for a safe and quick surgery recovery.

New York Pattern 1229 "Smartly Styled" Dress 1940's which is so "neat" - a fashion for a shirtdress fashionista. Some shirtdress patterns are the classic look we are all familiar with.  This one adds a few details to make it zing - dolman sleeved or short cuffed sleeves and pointy collar in contrast fabric.  You can't go wrong having a shirtdress in your closet!

Another "shout out" to Nancy for giving me a website I will be visiting daily and keeping a kleenex box handy while I'm there.  The Itty Bitty Committee.

Featured new I have in several sizes - one already sold early today!

McCall's 8325 Yummy U-Necked Dress with Two Skirts 1966

McCall's 8325 Yummy U-Necked Dress with Two Skirts 1966 with a delightful low neckline.  Definitely sleeveless is IMO the one to make but then again ... those sheer sleeves call to me.

Thanks to Allyn for mentioning Fashion Sewing Supply on her Facebook page.   Their Facebook page is great as well as their regular website.

Butterick 6647 Eye Candy Top, Skirt with Overlay & Pants 2000 one of those lucky finds where I have more than one size.  Yay.

Simplicity 3540 Mesmerizing Dress, Stole & Overskirt / ca. 1951

Simplicity 3540 Mesmerizing Dress, Stole & Overskirt / ca. 1951 with an interesting "apron" overskirt.  One hot summer evening this outfit will shine!

Stay tuned this week.  We are leaving early Thursday for what will probably be our last Glamis camping trip.  Starting in April it's most often getting too hot for comfort.  If it stays cooler then we may make one more trip but oh well in any event a 4 day weekend calls for a sale!  It will be 15% for anyone not a reader but 20% for you so keep an eye out for your special coupon code.

Thank you Pati for sharing how wonderfully McCall's 4395 Jayne Mansfield Sailor Collar Dress / ca. 1956 came together when she made it.

Here is the pattern itself along with the picture I found on the internet of Jayne Mansfield wearing it.  Va Va Voom.

Here are the fabulous results and wow am I impressed not just with the skill of recreating this delicious dress but how well Pati wears it!
Does she look like a Navy Nurse or what?  I can see her going patient to patient and each male patient's blood pressure skyrockets!  I am so impressed!

The featured new is:  Vogue 9833 Business or Pleasure "Coat" Dress 1987 a very neat looking coatdress.

Woman's Day 5066 Button -Together Blouse, Halter, Skirt & Apron 1950's

Here's the Friday sale info - Buy any one pattern that features a DRESS and get 20% off your entire order.  This includes any combo patterns that have a dress included.  If a pattern says "Dress" anywhere it fits!  Your coupon code will be DRESS.  Sale starts at Midnight and ends Midnight Friday.  Make out your list now!

Featured vintage pattern is one I actually featured in 2009 and which sold quickly:  Woman's Day 5066 Button -Together Blouse, Halter, Skirt & Apron 1950's a super hard to find pattern.  The envelope is very ratty but except for one pattern piece which has a tear at a fold it's in ready to use condition!  Even that one piece won't hold you back.   Note the mop and laundry basket.  Would they be considered sexist today?  Oh who cares LOL - it's a fun vision from "the past" ....

I am a bad bad "mother" - while putting patterns in this morning I heard a little kitty cry and looked around and didn't see anyone.  Then I happened to look out the window and Pugsley (my boy kitty) had his face pressed to the screen looking rather panicky.  WTH?  I went out and gathered him up and he was covered with stickers & leaves and was just a mess.  Couldn't figure out how he had gotten out - checked all the windows no loose screens and I hadn't been "outside" today at all and I knew he hadn't gotten out when my husband left as the door was closed.  When my husband called at lunchtime he told me he had gone out to the garage last night and because he was "just a minute" he'd left the door ajar.  OMG - my poor baby was out all night.  How the heck did I not notice he was MIA last night?  He's my foot baby so how did I miss his lump at the end of the bed?  He must have PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder) as he is still looking rather shaky.  Extra hugs happening for sure - thank God he hadn't strayed.

Featured new is:  Simplicity 9398 Willowy Dress with Flounce 2000 - it can have a plain hem or a flounce.  Sheer sleeves are an option too so picking out fabric for this one will be fun.  I was lucky to have gotten two of these -

The last weekend of the month I'll be having a 4 day big sale as we will be going camping in the sand dunes for the last time this season.  Mark it on your calendar!  March 24th thru 27th.

Advance 4904 Steamy Sun Dress & Bolero / ca. 1948

Advance 4904 Steamy Sun Dress & Bolero / ca. 1948 -- if you love this one but it's not in your size keep an eye out as I have two others coming.  Not sure what sizes - keep your fingers crossed.  If I had this dress I'd NEVER wear a jacket.  I don't care how cold it is that jacket ain't goin' on!

For the featured "new" I'm throwing in a 1994 pattern and a newer 2000's pattern because I couldn't make up my mind.  First:  Butterick 3367 Refined Decadence Dress & Overskirt 1994 - if you have a special occasion to go to trust me on this!  No one will take their eyes off of you with this on.

Chetta B Patterns are always a bit "ethnic" looking!

Butterick 5311 Pretty Country Dress 1970's

How does anyone with kids get anything done?  Back and forth to church for meals, meets, rehearsals, concerts and then up early yesterday to get them to the tour bus, stay for kid's concert, get home fall on floor, crawl to computer, put a few things in, answer a few emails, collapse totally.  Okay that last part is an exaggeration but not by much.  That's my excuse for no blog on Monday - was it good enough?

Short but sweet again today.  Featured pattern:  Butterick 5311 Pretty Country Dress 1970's just perfect for a hippie wedding.  I feel sure that young lady is barefoot and she's posing for her new husband to take her picture.

For the featured new pattern and after a weekend here with temps in the 80's it was a "no brainer" - Butterick 6623 Cool Halter Top, Skirt & Wide Leg Pants 2000.  Check out the skirt & pants have long slits - cool!

Short blog today but will put some extra stuff in tomorrow.  Numerous orders to get out today and get ready for tomorrow's postings so getting an early start.

First and foremost - Our thoughts and prayers go out to the victims of the devastating quake and tsunami.

Something a bit different today and just in case you are expecting or someone you know is expecting Simplicity 4004 "Ladies In Waiting" Maternity Skirt / ca. 1953 a unique and most interesting maternity skirt.  Vintage maternity patterns are quite popular.

Am keeping it a bit short today - so much to do to prepare for those young seminary students coming tomorrow.  It will be fun to have "kids" in the house!

Featured new is:  Butterick 6649 Spicy Jacket, Halter Top, Shorts & Pants 2000 and even if I was younger and had a great figure not sure I'd wear those shorts hee hee.  That fitted jacket with a standing collar is classy and when you take it off - wham.  Halter top!

Simplicity 9246 Kimono Sleeved Caftan - Magnificent! 1979

Don't forget the Friday Sale!  Starting at midnight 20% off your entire order if you buy any one new 2000 era pattern.  Your coupon code is NEW2000.

Simplicity 9246 Kimono Sleeved Caftan - Magnificent! 1979 just the coolest hang around the house caftan.  Avoid that muumuu and put this on instead.  Surprisingly I don't have alot of Caftan Patterns - not sure why because they are very popular and there should be more out there to find.

The carpet turned out awesome.  I still have to put everything back (except that heavy coffee table which will wait until husband gets home).

We are going to house 4 to 6 seminary students (boys) from 18 to 21 years old this weekend.  They are in a choir and going to perform at the church.  We have our 5th wheel set up for them.  Oh this should be both fun and interesting LOL - I'm used to young men who are rowdy (our friends and "Rent a Kids" from our camping trips).

Had an awwwwwww moment last night when I saw the kitties enjoying the fresh night air by the front door.  Little Girl had her head laying on a ceramic cat (moved off the carpet due to cleaning) and Fat Boy was staring out the screen door.  I took a quick picture thinking when I got close she would move.  Luckily she didn't and I got a close-up of her.   I mean is that cute or what!

Featured new is:  McCall's 6034 Tunic Top with Yummy Variations 2010 with a sort of "ruched" look to one style.  All the styles are truly yummy.  I always visualize how something will look with a pair of jeans and this comes out an A+ meaning it dresses up those casual jeans.

Just about to get my carpets cleaned so a quick quick posting!  I didn't get too many patterns in today but promise extra tomorrow - clean carpets will be so nice!  Any of you with cats understand "hairballs" and no matter how I scrub there comes a time .... Grin.

Simplicity 3457 Retro Charmer Blouse, Skirt or Jumper Dress / ca. 1940

A totally knock my socks off pattern!  Simplicity 3457 Retro Charmer Blouse, Skirt or Jumper Dress / ca. 1940.  At first I thought it was 1930's because it is reminiscent of that era until I researched it.  Though it is a 1940 pattern is retains the 1930's Styling IMO.

Nancy emailed me a killer "Taco Soup" recipe for the crock pot and I made it yesterday.  It was a hit!  I made it a bit spicier than the recipe called for but overall easy and tasty.  If you want the recipe just email me at risingfeenix@yahoo.com and I'll type up a document to attach in a reply.  Thanks Nancy!

Melodee at ML Originals has revamped her website and I'm very impressed.  She took my hinting (well more like whining) to heart and created an Asian Cat tote bag which I snatched up in a hot second.  I got it yesterday and it is so cute - I thought I would use it to get small purchases at the market but it's too pretty!  Check out the new look at her site.

Featured new is:  Butterick 6901 Smooth Top, Dress, Pants & Belt 2000 which I have in two sizes.  Always a good thing!

Going to be a hectic week - I have a bone scan this afternoon, tomorrow we're having the carpets cleaned, and Saturday we pick up 4 to 6 young men from 18 to 21 years of age that are in a choir visiting our church.  There are about 50 of them and the choir master was scrambling for housing.  We have a big "Luxury Toy Hauler" fifth wheel that sleeps at least 8 comfortably but we opted for 6 maximum.  OMG this should be fun.  They are seminary students so I'll make sure not to leave the margarita machine and Cuervo out - just kidding!

Simplicity 1811 Amazing Five-Way Housecoat & Housedress / ca. 1957

Simplicity 1811 Amazing Five-Way Housecoat & Housedress / ca. 1957 with unique variations.  Love it!  Can it be used as a dress too?  I'd say yes.

The car show turned out to be so fun.  Both concert nites also turned out better than expected especially Saturday night.  It started out with a Beatles tribute band that was wonderful.  They had the voices, looks, inflections perfect.  If I closed my eyes it was the Beatles.  I didn't realize I still remembered all the words to all the songs.  The big crowd of all ages enjoyed it tremendously.  The featured act was Johnny Rivers of "Secret Agent Man" fame from the 1960's.  Had my doubts but the minute he started he rocked the place.  His voice was perfect, the guitar awesome, keyboard the best!  For being in his late 60's he sounded just amazing.  He had a nice selection of his own works and some of his contemporary R&B and Rock music hits.  Age hits hard though - totally worn out from two long days and late nights.  Just can't do it like I used to.  Dragging butt today.

Thanks to Nancy for the Taco Soup recipe which I am doing today.  I'll let you know how it turns out!

Featured new:  Simplicity 9214 Hot Workout Tank Top, Shorts & Skirt 2000 sized for stretch knits only.  Some nice variables and mix and match items!

Spadea 38 Partygoer Dress Daringly Low in Back 1963

Spadea 38 Partygoer Dress Daringly Low in Back 1963 too hot to handle!  Super sixties' bombshell dress.  I've acquired a number of Spadea Catalogs that are pretty awesome and I'll be putting more in soon.  Great for reference or making out that "wish list" -

That big lot I wrote about the other day had some fabulous Butterick Retro patterns and I was amazed to see a re-issue of a 1956 pattern that I have listed and I believe was a featured vintage pattern.  Butterick 7649

So as the featured new I will use the "new" reissue:
Butterick 6632 Fashionista Dress & Coat Set 2000 which I have in several sizes luckily!  It is so interesting to me that these older re-issued Butterick Retro Patterns have become so hard to find and pricey.
