Simplicity 3070 Slim & Trim Roll Collar Dress / ca. 1959

Okay Sale is On!
We are heading out late today and will be back late Sunday.  All paid orders will go Monday or Tuesday.  You readers will get 20% off by using coupon code REST4ME which really means I am going to sleep, nap, and generally be lazy the whole, entire, time.  Bringing lots of books I have wanted to read, my little laptop DVD player and my headphones.  Oh and of course the kitties.  They tolerate the trip (they actually don't dig traveling at all but they do it) but once we are there they enjoy looking out the window at all the activity.

Of course I will have my IPad with me to stay in touch thru email and to answer any questions you may have.  Camping just ain't what it used to be - but then I won't give up my queen size bed and walk in shower or my internet or cell phone just to sleep in the dirt again with a tent.

Simplicity 3070 Slim & Trim Roll Collar Dress / ca. 1959- so stylish.  If Erin of Dressaday was writing about this pattern I wonder what she would say about the two ladies who are staring daggers but not at each other?  Occasionally I get such a giggle out of a pattern I send it to Erin to enjoy - not that this is exceptional but it did make me wonder.

Featured new is McCall's 6277 Flouncy Fancy Dress & Belt 2011- definitely a big splashy print for this dress.  Bit exotic - tropical type flowers in a silky fabric.  The kind of material that skims your figure when you walk or even move.  Very Sixties Sex Symbol looking.

Simplicity 7009 Stylish Two-Piece Jiffy Dress 1967

Just put this one in today:  Simplicity 7009 Stylish Two-Piece Jiffy Dress 1967 with a bit of a "suit" look to it.  The pink view is just plain distinguished.

Someone sent me the attached link that is just so funny.  Cows are so dummmmmbbbb!  Rawhide Round 'Em Up

We are going to have a long weekend "vacation" starting on Wednesday.  It's been so long since we've gotten together with our camping buddies because of summer but our first "winter" trip since last April is this weekend.  We are going out Wednesday night and will be back Sunday afternoon.  A 15% off sale will go on starting Thursday for regular customers but it be 20% for you readers.  I will put the link in on Wedneday morning for you!  Nothing will get mailed until the following Monday or Tuesday.  As always will have an internet connection to keep in touch.

The new pattern is one I had before and it got snatched up quickly - McCall's 7077 Extraordinary Loose-Fitted Shirt 1994.  It's a shirt but ... well better than that.  This is one I wish I had found fifty of as it seems to be very popular.

Simplicity 2261 Extra Special Dress with Tiered "Bustle" / ca. 1947

Simplicity 2261 Extra Special Dress with Tiered "Bustle" / ca. 1947 - a Truly Teen pattern with a great "nipped" waist, and tiered "bustle" affect.  If you are tiny or have a teen who is into retro fashions this could be a winner.  Though the envelope is awful the pattern itself is uncut.  Lucky me - lucky someone.

Am I the only one who remembers Sea Monkeys?  Remember getting those when you were a kid?  I didn't find out until an adult that they were actually brine shrimp.  Found that out when we lived at Mono Lake and a friend harvested the brine shrimp.  We had all the sea monkeys we could catch.  If you feel nostalgic check out the Sea Monkey Worship Page for a giggle.

The featured new is:  Vogue 7012 Tasty Tapered Dress with Wrap Overlays 1999 and don't you just drool over that wrap bodice?!  I find it very unique - at first I thought it was a shirt or jacket that went over the dress.  Fooled me -

Vogue 9243 Priceless Full Skirt with Optional "Apron" Front 1957

Two featured today oh I can't decide - maybe because that blouse and skirt could go together.
Vogue 9243 Priceless Full Skirt with Optional "Apron" Front 1957 and Design 884 Mischief Maker Wrap Halter Top 1950's both very rare.  And both have never been used - can't figure that one out.

Featured new today is:  McCall's 2473 Loose Fitted Coat or Jacket 1999 and it is suitable for fleece.  Cool weather is here in some parts of the U.S. but soon to be winter and this would be an inexpensive item to make.  Not rare or hard to find but so useable.

Mail Order 9236 Dignified Day Dress 1960's

Can't Look Away - Mail Order 9236 Dignified Day Dress 1960's and don't the gloves just "make" the outfit?  Afraid I just can't do it - does anyone even wear gloves anymore except in the winter?  When we lived in the "snow belt" with temperatures below zero I still couldn't take wearing gloves especially when driving a car.  Had to put up with it until the car was warmed up and it was irritating.  Anyone out there still wearing gloves?

Had a lovely conversation with a new customer yesterday who used to live in Arizona but now lives in New Hampshire.  What a difference in weather for sure.  She encouraged me to check out a site with chapters in Yuma called SASS - Single Action Shooting Society who put on "shows" and competitions.  She bought some western period costume patterns.  They must put on quite a show.  Will have to check into their events.  Looks like fun.

We leave this evening for a quick trip to SoCal to visit my sister and her husband.  He's having a rough time doing both chemo and radiation and needs to be cheered up for sure.  My husband could make a Buckingham Palace Guard spit out water with laughter.  Wish us luck.

Featured new is McCall's 5396 Great Looking Jacket, Skirt & Pants 2007 with a very nice combo.  Lovely asymmetrical hem skirt and a neat jacket that fastens in the back.  I think that would complement a figure - showing a waist.

Simplicity 4221 Rockin' Housecoat, Brunchcoat or Tunic & Pants / ca. 1962

Simplicity 4221 Rockin' Housecoat, Brunchcoat or Tunic & Pants / ca. 1962 and why are the greatest most fun patterns in such tiny sizes arrrgggghhhhh!  Oh well even if it was my size being short I would look like an umbrella in this.

I just had a call from a new customer who mentioned an interesting pattern site called "Laughing Moon" which is located in Sacramento, California.  Very unique patterns all "historical" and they even have period clothing.  Their patterns are so authentic looking.  If you are into Old West or that type of pattern for costuming or event check them out.

Also wanted to pass on a website that carries women's products called Ahava - I have used their products and am addicted to them.  Especially the sun block as it works extra good here in sunny AZ.  Moisturizers, make-up you name it.  Every area on your body has a product!

Featured new is:  McCall's 5816 Waifish Jumpsuit & Dress 1992 which is not only dang cute but I have in just about every size right now.  Yay!  I might have even put this in as a favorite new a few days or weeks ago but when I got a bunch of other sizes wanted to make sure anybody who liked it had a chance.

Butterick 5374 Lady of Leisure Housecoat or Brunch Coat / ca. 1950

Butterick 5374 Lady of Leisure Housecoat or Brunch Coat / ca. 1950 - a concept that I don't think is happening today.  Today we wear robes.  Such a shame.  But then not being wealthy or hanging with the elite maybe they still wear these!  Jumping out of bed to an alarm, getting my husband's lunch together, toast for breakfast, making coffee and starting my "job" I know that poor housecoat would have coffee or butter stains the first morning - oh and not to forget all that cat hair.

Check out the Kwik Sew men's briefs pattern I put in yesterday.  I kept thinking "who would wear this?" - the one on the right reminds me of a man's thong and can't be comfortable.  Maybe it's a jock strap!  Kwik Sew 2224 Men's Hunky Briefs 1992

Featured new is McCall's 4051 Cut In Armhole Dress - a Beauty! 2003 which I have two of in different sizes.

I've had numerous customers say how hard it is to find good fabric today.  Nancy gave me a website that has some awesome fabric that I thought you might want to check out.  I'm sure there are numerous sites out there with lots of great and unique fabric - so if you know of any and want to share with me so I can spread the word email me at risingfeenix@yahoo.com and I will post the sites.  Here is the site:  Whittle's Fabrics

One of my customs has a very intriguing business name I couldn't resist looking up - Wee Scotty and okay Lynne I am so impressed!

She has a fashion school for kids to teach them how to sew and much more.  I encourage you to peruse her site I know you will enjoy it.

Sewing is such a lost art.  While finding patterns at thrift stores or swap meets people always ask "what do you do with those?" or even "what are those?" and when I explain they look confused.  Come on people!  Clothes don't magically appear on the racks - someone has to make them.  I know you readers have passed your skills on and bless you for that.
