SALE WITH 15% OFF STARTS TODAY!  Use coupon code LOVE2CAMP at checkout to get your discount.  I'll be home Monday so orders ship Tuesday or Wednesday depending on volume.  I have a new cellphone (a Droid) which is fabulous.  I can practically run business from it but will be taking my laptop and scanner so it will be a working weekend.  I'll be in touch if you have any questions and have fun shopping!

Vogue 5730 Wrap Backed Skirt - Deep Pockets / ca. 1960's nothin' fancy just plain but so useable.  Usually skirts are blah to me but if it would fit I'd make this one.

We are going camping this weekend and I was going to come home tomorrow (it's about 1 1/2 hours away) to get orders out but then I figured heck no.  We are going to meet some friends we haven't seen in a while and I don't want to miss a minute of the fun.

Butterick 8809 Bubble-Back Overblouse / ca.1959 and does this look like the perfect bowling night blouse?  A tight pair of capri pants and there you go!  Then off to the malt shop for a root beer float.  Okay guys that's even out of my era LOL - but not by much.

It was a toss-up between this pattern and Butterick 6906 Slinky Top, Jacket, Wrap Skirt & Pants 1970's which I'm lucky to have in several sizes.  That era of Butterick had the most colorful illustrations.

Realized I was quite low on Stretch & Sew Patterns so dug in the wonder closet (it's kind of like Harpo Marx' bag that he keeps pulling the most outrageous things out of from pianos to dog sled with dogs) and found some which went in today.

Winter isn't quite over yet so this Butterick 5764 Oversized Coat & Detachable Collar 1998 can still come in handy.  Lots of ideas for that detachable collar - faux fur?  Guess this would be called a "dress coat" and I can see some Cable News Anchorwoman standing in the cold giving her news report wearing this coat.

Simplicity 3655 Delightful Skirt & Stole / ca. 1951 with nice kick pleats in the back.  Not sure why this blows my skirt up.  Maybe it's the stole with the little diamond pockets on the ends - yeah that's it!

Put one of those Spadea patterns in today too - and a neat Burda coat.  It was hard to pick a featured pattern today!

McCall 4780 Park Avenue Ladies' Dress 1942 - check out the skirt detailing.  It also has another feature that I like - underarm gussets.  The belt piece is missing which is a big eh.  I'm on a quest to find more Spadea Patterns as they are hard to find and have gotten a few lately and two that knocked me off my chair when I held them in my hands.  Look for them later this week.  I'm sure I will feature at least one.

Running errands today and shopping too.  Some rare and much needed rain came early this morning but it's clearing up now.  Have a lovely weekend!

Here is a project from Bernat Book 86 Amazing Knit & Crochet Patterns 1960 not a sewing pattern feature but who could resist?  Two others that are worth checking out the additional pics even if you don't knit or crochet:  Fairknit Vol. No. 23 Spectacular Retro Knitting Patterns 1960's and Bear Vol. 35-A Stoles - Capes - Shorties Knit & Crochet Patterns 1956

What a lost art - or is it?

Glad the weekend is here so I can catch up on chores after being away extra days.  Spring is coming - I can feel it.  And see it - weeds everywhere.  Where's my hula hoe?

Mail Order 4663 Corporate Woman Coatdress 1960's a dynamite example of the "coat dress" with offset buttoning.  A number of Style Patterns also listed today with more on the way.  If you like doll clothes a couple of scarce old patterns listed too.

Here are a couple of pics from our anniversary camping trip.  Me standing up on a high crest after an exciting trip thru canyons and scaling narrow trails and our campsite with our trailer and our friends' rig.

What an awesome view!  There are hundreds of trails in every direction.  We spent hours and hours over two days and still didn't begin to cover all the trails.  Weather couldn't have been better either in the mid-70's the whole time.

What made the trip extra special was taking our cats with us.  They have a big carrying cage with a blanket and litterbox and they don't dig it but they do it.  Once we are stopped they flop on the bed and make themselves at home.

Spadea N-1294 Feminine Shirtwaist Dress / ca. 1964 a shirtdress with classic elegance.  So versatile!
Home at last after taking an extra day as we were having so much fun.  One of our most fun anniversary weekends for sure.  Our last two full days we spent hours and hours travelling the most unique canyons and washes.  We could have stayed another week.  But work calls - sigh.  I'll post a few pics as soon as my husband downloads them from the camera.  Not my most fashion diva moments for sure LOL

Wishing you all a most wonderful Valentine's Day!  My 29th anniversary is this weekend so we are going away for a romantic camping trip in the desert!

Mail Order 9339 Sleeveless Dress with Yoke Bodice + Transfer 1970's a true get ready for summer dress.  Will summer ever get here?  For those of you on the East coast hang in there it will arrive!  I shoveled my last snow 6 years ago.

A big thanks to Lanna Lu (aka Linda)  for the stickers!  They are so appreciated.  I'll be using them for sure next week.

Simplicity 3638 Razzle Dazzle Dress & Suit Dress / ca. 1960 that is a maternity pattern but dang it can be made for anyone it is so cute!  It has everything going right for it.

Received a payment from a customer who included a lovely Valentine's Day card and picture of a rose.  I'm a sucker for those personal touches!  Don't you just hate it when you buy something and it's stuffed in an envelope without care or thought?  I know I do.

Doing some packing and organizing for our weekend - anniversary trip on Thursday.  So Cal has been getting so much rain we are hoping that it isn't pure mud at Ocotillo Wells.  But we are tough and will go anyway!  Mud washes off!

Monday, February 8, 2010

Vogue 6333 Superb Straight Skirt / ca. 1948 one of a few old Vogue patterns listed today.  Got that big box of old Vogue patterns and I'm in heaven.  Still sorting through but all that I've checked so far as complete and in wonderful condition.  Stay tuned daily for listings!

Many of the patterns are maternity patterns too which are so nice and hard to find.  I often get requests for 1940's or 1950's maternity patterns so it will be nice to have some in stock.

McCall's 9569 Lunch at the Waldorf Dress & Accessories 1953 such a high glass gal outfit.  It's comes with Changeable Accessories a Dickey, Plastron, Collar, "Scarf."  Very rare - though I did find one other on the internet which I snatched up as well because it is a different size.

HAPPY SUPER BOWL WEEKEND TOO!  I don't have a pony in this race so it will be fun to just watch and enjoy.  I do like Peyton Manning that little charmer but the Saints - well it would be awesome if they would win too.  Pizza & margaritas will be happenin'!

I'm anxious to get started on going thru and listing all those old Vogue patterns but they haven't arrived yet.  Hopefully soon.  I'll be going away for my 29th anniversary next Thursday and will return home the following Monday.  Yes going camping but to a different place - it will be "hard pack" not sand.  We went there last year (Ocotillo Wells) and loved it so it will be nice to go back.  And of course a sale will be happening!  Stay tuned.

Got side-tracked yesterday so sorry!  When I went to post my blog my computer froze up and after jumping through all the hoops and getting it up and going again I ran off the tracks.

McCall's 5805 Voluptuous Dress with Two Skirts 1961 - this unused pattern is so rare.  I suspect that everyone who bought it used the bat snot out of it and wore them out.  It's not even on the pattern wikia.

Had a customer write me the other day asking if I had a man's "Hollywood" jacket pattern.  Not the maker but the style.  Here is what she was looking for.  She was from the UK and referred me to Heyday! Vintage Style Clothing which was fun to go through.

Spadea 1086 Roman Holiday Shirtwaist Dress 1952 - I keep picturing Audrey Hepburn wearing this dress.  The illustrators for Spadea were so gifted and even in black and white they are beautiful.   Spadea patterns are so hard to find and I am always looking for them.

Looking forward to my mail every day as I have some exciting old patterns coming.  A nice lady wanted to clean out her mother's sewing patterns and contacted me.  Lots of old Vogue so I will be in heaven.

Can't resist putting another picture in:  McCall's 9385 Iconic Tent Dress, Negligee or Jacket 1953 which would make an awesome maternity dress.  Big time Lucy Look!

McCall's 2453 Cabo Wabo Vacation Shirt & Shift + Transfer 1961 and I just love this one!  Even without the transfer (which is included and unused) those sleeves are a gas.  But that pocket!  For flower or gardening lovers it's delightful.  Truly a number of great old patterns went in today and it was hard to decide.

Hubby got home yesterday and though it was nice to have some "time alone" it got a bit lonely too so good to have him back!

Simplicity 8869 Delightful Back Wrapped Apron Dress 1994 not an oldie but a goodie!  I was surprised to not find any more of this on the internet.  Hmmmm - definitely right up my alley with cute and easy too.

Lovely weekend spent relaxing and reading with sporadic scanning.  Hubby went camping in the desert with some friends and I opted out.  We are going in two weeks with friends and just didn't feel up to it.  It was nice to be "alone" for a few days but so glad he's coming home today.
Quite a few more Style patterns listed and to list this week and more coming.  Found a nice lady with a bunch she is slowly getting rid of.   Also found a source for 40+ 1950's and 1960's Vogue patterns that should come in about a week.
