Butterick 7649 Fashionista Dress & Coat Set / ca. 1956 not a doubt in my mind about this being the featured pattern.  In researching it there was a mention about 2 years ago on Dressaday with Erin saying she was sorry she missed it - but then nothing. 

Thanks to you readers who shared your Ebay horror stories.  I've been lucky to only have a few bad experiences but of course they are so memorable - ugh.  Dishonesty just fries my cookies!  This lady in question is just not thinking - how could $10 be worth holding on to and risk 3 negatives?  Why would she risk losing sales?  I always check feedback and would walk away if I saw a fraudulent item had been sold.  Just don't get it!

Featured new is Simplicity 2885 Attractive Dress with Sleeve Variations 2008 which though modern has a mod look to it.  I like it alot!  It's a Project Runway Pattern

Just recently had the worst experience on Ebay.  A seller listed three items as vintage 1930's items.  I buy them and when I get them - well they are from the 1980's and are reproductions.  I was furious and contacted the seller who said she doesn't give refunds.  This was stated in the fine print and she is standing firm.  I've filed a complaint with Paypal and Ebay and not sure how they are going to rule - with them it's hard to tell and they are such a pain!  But after 4 days hoping seller would relent with my filings I posted a negative for her and she flipped her wig.  Huh?  I'll give her another few days and post another then my last negative.  This is so flagrantly fraudulent.  Anyone else have problem sellers out there?

I came across another knit - crochet handbag and hat booklet that takes my breath away.  Hiawatha Bags and Accessories Book No. 111 Extravagent Hats & Purses from 1952.  Even if you don't knit or crochet check out the pictures - the fashion photographers from the 1940's and 1950's are so elegant.

Mail Order 4804 Side Tie "Tabard" Top & Pants 1970's - just throw the pants away and make that top!  I'm getting pickier when I find patterns that are cut and usually just toss unless they are a unique style like this one.  It is cut but complete and definitely a keeper!  Could this double as a maternity top?  Maybe -

Pulled out that sock puppet sewing book and put it in:  Stupid Sock Creatures - Make Quirky Loveable Figures 2005 so if you have some old but cute socks don't throw them away - use them!

 

Featured New:  Vogue 1947 Cute as a Button Dress 1997 which is a size 12 to 16 but I have another one coming that is a size 6-10 so keep an eye out if this blows your skirt up but you need a smaller size.

McCall's 3915 High Collar High Class Blouse & Skirt 1973 a chic sleek outfit if there ever was one.  It is suitable for lightweight wools and stretch knits.  Have to think a solid color would look best especially on the long version.  Would hate to disrupt the svelte lines with any design distraction.

Simplicity 7174 Festive Hippie Dress or Top 1975 another of the 70's ones I got recently.  Having fun picking a few to put in every day.  This may top my list of favs.  How did someone not make this?  Who would have this in their pattern drawer and not rip it open and start cutting?  Well I thank them for not doing it so it is available like new today.

 

Featured New:  Butterick 6272 Waitress Worthy Skirt, Apron & Hip Bag 1999.  Is this fun or what!  Whether you're a waitress or florist or seamstress this skirt and bag are so useable.  I had this pattern some years ago and was lucky to find another one.

Are any of you readers selling on Ebay?  Have your own website where you sell?  Oh my gosh the new tax hoops we have to jump through are awful.  It's my fear that all these new regulations will force many of us small internet businesses out of business.  I worry too that Ebay will be devastated as far too many small sellers will be forced off.

Simplicity 7342 Fun & Fancy "Denim" Dress 1976 what a great dress this is!  Great description:  Top stitched dress with self fabric ties at asymmetric front opening has skirt gathered to bodice above normal waistline, shaped yokes, pockets in side seams and above elbow length set in sleeves at extended shoulders.  All in all what a beauty.

I got a stash of some nifty 70's patterns recently and have been concentrating on putting them up for you.  Look for more the rest of the week.


Featured new is a style I've been getting more into as an "underneath" fashion.  Find a cute button front sweater and wear a camisole under it. Kwik Sew 2498 Misses' Camisoles 1995 has some nice wear alone or wear with something else designs.  The nice thing about Kwik Sew Patterns is their multi-sizing.  More Camisole Patterns!

McCall's 3095 "Choker" Collar Dress or Tunic, Pants or Dance Pants 1972 just throw on a pair of tap shoes and put on Rocky Horror Picture Show and dance away wearing the tunic top and the short "dance pants" shown on the back.

Not a terribly new one as featured "new" but just liked the heck out of it more than the true newer ones put in today.  McCall's 8116 Oh So Boho Dress or Tunic, Top, Skirt & Pants 1982 that seems to have something for everyone.  Big oversized shirt does it for me - throw it over a pair of loose fitting jeans and I could lounge all day.

It's so odd to think of the 1980's and now into the 1990's as being vintage when it comes to patterns.  But this featured one is almost 30 years old.  Wow where did the time go.

McCall's 3082 "Mongolian" Coat or Jacket & Pants 1972 - that coat looks like it could have been worn by Genghis Khan (spelling?).  What a great looking coat - a nice "ethnic" fabric - maybe "quilted" would be awesome.

Do you get alot of emails from friends with wild stories that are supposedly true?  I get so many, especially political ones, that are blatantly untrue when researched.  I never forward anything of interest unless I research it at snopes.com The Urban Legend Reference Page which does the research for you.

Happy 2011 to you all!  I actually made a few resolutions - did you?

Simplicity 4464 Beatnik Blouse, Overblouse & Tapered Slacks / ca. 1962 the ultimate bebop fashion.  Just throw in a smokey coffeehouse, and some bongos and this outfit fits right in.  I prefer the "plain" top with the belt which with a great pair of jeans would work for me. Do beatnik sewing patterns / fashions ever go out of style?

Get set for rising cotton prices to start affecting your shopping some time soon.  Hit the fabric stores soon for those after Christmas sales and stock up.  Here's a hint too though I suspect many of you already know to check out your local thrift stores for not just patterns but fabric.  Many people buy fabric and then not use it and while spring cleaning get rid of it.  I see some awesome deals at the local Goodwill here.  I'll be stocking up myself.
