Sew-Knit-N-Stretch #207 Ladies' Panties with Flared Legs 1969 and I know I had a pair of these in high school!  I'd wear it in place of a half slip.  When I was in high school no pants were allowed.  Many of you can't imagine that huh?  The year after I graduated they allowed slacks - dang missed it by a year.  Maybe that's why I have hardly any dresses or skirts -

Simplicity 4083 Hit Parade Full Skirt / ca. 1952

 

Not rare, nothing extra special, just dang cute and a regular woman size to boot!  Simplicity 4083 Hit Parade Full Skirt / ca. 1952 at a waist size 30.  It has nice lines and those pockets a must - can they be enlarged?  Hmm that would make them even better and a more useful skirt too.

Also put in a 1920's pattern I acquired that is in very nice condition.  Butterick 2042 Lindy Hop Frock 1923 also in a woman's size!  It is a bust size 40.





A good friend from Kingman, AZ emailed me an interesting website called Prepared Society.  After a trip to the grocery store last night and seeing the prices of fresh produce and all the higher prices it got me extra concerned.  I've been concerned but reality is hitting home by hitting the pocket book.

With all the turmoil in the world and the very real spike in oil prices and it's rippling affect we can all expect higher prices at the grocery store not to mention all retail stores.  Prepared Society has some useful discussions and of course it can be a bit mind boggling with some extreme survival ideas and discussions but most is useful.  I'd say it's not a bad idea to be good Girl Scouts or Boy Scouts and "Be Prepared"

For the featured new:  Butterick 4326 Couch Potato Loungewear 2004 because it's still cold weather time and this looks warm!  Surprisingly it's rather scarce - must have been a winner!

Dolores of St. Paul 7025 Knockout "Bra Gown" 1969

Big finds on my shopping trip last Friday!  Got a stack of 1960's lingerie patterns from bras, panties, girdles, etc., and then there was this breathtaker:   Dolores of St. Paul 7025 Knockout "Bra Gown" 1969 and I am presuming that this is a nightgown or peignoir and not actually a "gown" or dress.  Am I wrong?  Oh who cares - just look at it!

Forgot to mention no listing or blog on Monday - okay here's the truth hee hee.  I forgot it was a holiday weekend and normally would have had a big sale but it just evaded my thought processes.  Monday was a snap decision to be lazy.

Vogue 6943 White House Evening Dress with Underdress / ca. 1966 my best find in the last week.  Saw it in a box of patterns and did a swan dive to beat out anyone else nearby.  Got it!  There are only 2 dress pieces cut with the rest uncut.  Tres' Magnifique' - and that hairdo on the blonde so Sixties'

Another short but sweet listing.  Had to take my old kitty Little Girl to the vet.  She and her brother are 15 1/2 and she's getting very arthritic.  She hobbles down the hallway and if she was human she's be saying - ow ow ow.  This cold weather is bad for all of us getting up there.  The vet took blood (her kidneys are perfect), did a full checkup and she's doing great except for her arthritis.  Now I give her prednisone three times a week and see how she does.  One mil. of cherry flavored (I didn't taste it but it smells like it) squirted in her mouth.  Oh this will be fun - I'll have to sneak up on her three days a week.

Simplicity 4825 Glorious Set of Aprons / ca. 1943 hands down that heart shaped apron is the nicest apron I've ever seen!  Super rare pattern and factory folded.  I used the term "apronista" the other day and didn't want to be redundant but this one deserves that terminology too.

A number of super 1940's patterns put in today when I couldn't decide which ones to do when.  Gave up and scanned all I had pulled.

Happy Valentine's Day to you all!  By accident (It was a Saturday in 1981) it's my 30th anniversary.  OMG how can I be that old?  We're, of course, going to dinner tonite but nothing extravagent just a quiet dinner and good company.  We celebrated this weekend with a great sushi dinner at China Star a new sushi bar in Yuma and it rocks.

Simplicity 3295 Square Dance Blouse & Skirt / ca. 1959 an adorable outfit for the country western fans out there!  This pattern came with a magazine page which must have featured this pattern as the picture is identical to the style on the pattern.

Thank you Nancy for the link from American Quilt Retailer writing about the rising cost of cotton.  Very informative.  Stock up on fabric and clothes people!

Featured new is:  Simplicity 3821 Knit Top & Sassy Skirt 2007 and I would love either separately but nice they are together.  Pretty scrunch affect at bosom and the skirt has some nice flaring at the bottom.  All around sweet!

Mail Order 9058 Sleeveless Dress & Dainty Jacket 1963 with a great square neckline and decorative buttons - topped with a cutie jacket.

 

Spent most of yesterday rewriting those articles and my brain is sizzled.  Every bit of creative writing I was capable of has been expended and nothing left for today.  Need to recharge the batteries.

 

Have any of you visited the Home Ec 101 Site? Pretty fun and I've barely tapped the surface of everything they have.  They have "Skills for Everyday Living" for sure.

Featured new isn't particularly scarce as it is pretty recent but such a casual yet pretty dress.  Butterick 5339 Straight Dress with Neck Band 2009 - almost a "shift" looking dress.  It looks like a dress that could support just about any type of design fabric - flowers, checks, stripes (vertical for sure!) or just plain one color.

Today's list is short but sweet.  Yesterday I went to the post office and then on to the local ATM to make a deposit and the dang thing said my PIN number was wrong.  Huh?  So had to drive "to town" 10 miles away to figure out WTH.  Seems it was just that ATM.  So while in town I hit the local thrifts and found almost 100 more pattern so it was worth it!  It was a good day.  But I didn't get my scanning done until early today.

While there I always browse the knick knacks and my oh my!  Someone had given up their collection of goodies and I snatched up these lovelies.  The doggie on the shoe is a Shawnee creation and the elf is not indicated but research online shows it is pretty rare.  They aren't in perfect condition but will make lovely additions in my display cabinet.  I love thrift stores!

Hands down this skirt pattern had to be my featured new one:  McCall's 5054 Gala Gypsy Skirt 2006 - am I right??!!  If you have some fiesta to go to this would be perfect.

McCall's 3242 Outdoorsy Retro Jacket 1955 - maybe not glam but useful and I keep picturing Carole Lombard wearing this style.  Flannel, denim, poplin, linen, gingham, corduroy are suggested fabrics.  A nice range of possibilities for checks or stripes or whatever strikes your fancy or keep it plain.

Want a peek at my pattern room?  Here's a pic of the left half and the right half looks as devastated as the left.  That ladder peeking out comes in mighty handy!

Some of the bins are "to list" some are numerically ordered costume patterns because I ran out of room in the shelves.  Truly I define it as "organized chaos" - you be the judge.  One thing I do know - the kitties love to hide in there and make me think they got out somehow and while I go around the house inside and out calling their names they stay hidden.  Monsters.

Butterick 8473 Amazing Jumper Frock with Apron Effect / ca. 1939 - "Two-Piece Shirred Skirt Attached to Basque.  Separate Blouse with Puff or Wrist Length Sleeve" what a treasure this one is!  Unused 30's patterns are very scarce and I lucked out getting this one.

Today's listing is a pathetic 26 items but they are all awesome.  Quite a few oldies.  The weekend was spent cleaning house and watching the game and scanning took a back seat.  Sorry!

If bad things come in threes I am cringing - can  barely see out of my right eye, and last night while making a bok choy stir fry I cut my right hand pointing finger (no not "that" finger!) and can barely type.  It's ow ow ow ow whenever I hit certain keys.

Sorry to post so late.  A few weeks ago started to have problems with my right eye with a big squiggly spot right in my vision.  Aggravating more than worrying as I'm used to "floaters" showing up now and again but this has hung around.  Called my eye doctor and they ordered me to come right in so off I went.  It is a large "floater" called a vitruous (sp?) detachment and "eventually" will shrink and drop.  It can't come too soon for me.  Very distracting.

While in town went to lunch with my husband and then hit the thrift stores and "Bonus"!  Someone had given up some wonderful 2000's patterns and they are some very nice styles.  Put a few in today.  Also found some nice 80's too.  Came home to some big boxes on my doorstep with some lots I had purchased and they didn't disappoint.  A few 1930's and lots of 40's and 50's.  I have to go thru must of them but put in a couple that were uncut or factory folded today but lots more to come.

Check out this nice blog site I found which sewing ideas:  It's called Making Do With Not So New and there's a great idea of what to do with old or not so old skirts - turn them into tops!  Just love it.  Will have me looking at thrift stores for fun skirts to convert.

Are you ready for Superbowl Sunday?  Do you even care?  Have to admit my teams (I have several I root for unlike my husband who is a Chicago Bears fan) but it is still the biggest game of the year.  TipNut had a link for special recipes for a Superbowl Party.  Super Bowl Party Recipes!  I'm looking at making home made pizza and having a tranquilizer handy for our friend Tom who is a Steelers' fan and will probably have an ulcer even before Sunday.
